Dolores,Thank you for being so kind, and for the help.God speed on your journey and may the Angels watch and guard over you. Rebecca May the angels guide you!!!!!!
For the best way to find this, write the Probate Judge's Office at the Pickens Co. Court House, Pickens, SC, and give them the names and dates you have in your email. That should get you a copy. Send a couple of dollars to cover copying and postage. That will make it move faster. I will check my books to see if I have anything on them, but it may be a couple of weeks. I've got to get everything ready and deliver my son to Clemson Univ. on Thurs. of this week; won't be back until at least Wed. of next week. Let me hear from you if you would like for me to look more for you. Godspeed... Noticed your Thomas connections... Could you please explain? I am a direct descendant of Joseph Thomas and Rachel Susan Adams whose family was from Pendalton, S.C. They m. in Habersham cty., Ga., Oct. 5, 1842. He was b. April 15, 1818 N.C., his parents are listed in cencus data as both being from S.C., but we do not know where or who they are but believe them to be from the same area. There are Stover connections as well and of course the Stover's are connected to the Kimsey name. Thanks, Lucinda Thomas Schaefer email me please
What are your Thomas conncetions? I am a direct decendant of Joseph Thomas b. April 15, 1818 N.C., both of his parents are listed in cencus data as being from S.C., Joseph married Rachel Susan Adams whose Adams family was from Pendalton, S.C. He married her Oct. 5, 1842 in Habersham Cty., Ga. The families relocated together about the same time and I have every reason to believe that his parents were in this area of S.C. but I don't know their names nor do I know any of Joseph's siblings. We believe his middle name to be Riley. Any connections? Lucinda Thomas Schaefer The other surname groups can also be placed in S.C. and married into the different families.

Dolores, Thanks for posting this 1850 census Pickens Dist. census. There were no Cothrans in Pickens Dist. 1840 & 1850. Between 1790 & 1830 there were Cochrans,Cockrans,Cockerhams & Cockrams. Dolores, Thanks for posting that--it may turn out to be a lead! I descend from John Marlin Chapman and his second wife Nancy. We think her maiden name was Pulliam. John was b. ca. 1770 and settled in the Eastatoe area of Pickens Co. Nancy was b. ca. 1800, and d. 1850. John died 2 weeks before she did due to a fall. Their son, Josiah Chapman sr and his wife Malinda Turner were my gtgt grandparents. All these are bd. at McKinney Chapel near Sunset. Am also looking for parents of Malinda Turner--his name was Pick Turner (1810--1880) and settled around Pickens. I was just told by cousins there that Pick was full-blooded Portuguese, and that his wife was full Cherokee. How could he have the name Turner, then? John M. 1850 Census, Eastern Division, Pickens Dist., SC: p. 13 Dwelling 102, Family 102 Daniel MCKINNEY 74 m w farmer born NY Sarah " 77 f w born SC Betsy " 41 f w all the rest born in SC Rachel " 40 f w Sarah " 27 f w Daniel " 3 m w Now, I realize that this prob. tells you that the younger Sarah, 27, was most likely the mother of Daniel, age 3. She was most likely a widow of Daniel MCKINNEY's son - whose name we don't know! Of course, there is the off chance that she had her son without benefit of marriage. Would you like me to check the 1860 census for you and see what that may show? There were no "COTHRAN" families in either Eastern or Western (now Oconee Co.) parts of the Pickens Dist. in 1850 unless there was another spelling. I have heard COCKERHAM used but I don't know about your line. They may also be in the 1860 census having moved in during the 1850s. Let me hear from you if you need help. Godspeed...
