My GG Grandfather, Walter Kirkwood, was a coal miner in Hamilton. He died in 1889. His residence at the time of death was listed as Hamilton Home Farm Rows. I assume that this is a coal mining village. Many of the coal miner's housing projects were owned by the mines that they worked in.
