    1. Scott in OH by 1805
    2. Still trying to identify the parents of Charles Scott, b.1805/06 in Jefferson Co., Ohio d. 4/18/1864 Harrison Co., OH. Ohio became a state in 1803. I am slowly going over 1810 & 1820 census records looking for Scotts in Jefferson & surrounding areas. Charles was married by the time of the 1830 census. I am going to need add'tl info. to narrow the list of suspects as there are dozens of Scotts in the area in that era. Charles married Margaret Dodds on 4/20/1830, in Harrison Co., OH. Margaret, b.8/18/1810 IR d. 8/14/1881 Franklin twnshp, Harrison Co.,OH; was d/o James Dodds b.~1790 IR d.1854 Bucyrus, Crawford Co., OH & Esther Clifford b. ~1795 IR d. 1855 Bucyrus. The Dodds family arrived in PA from IR, & moved from the area of Independence & West Middletown, PA to Harrison Co.,OH before the 1830 census. Charles' parents are reported in oral history as having been of Irish descent. All of these folks appear to have been Presbyterians. I suspect they were from Scotland, lived in Ireland (several generations?), & then immigrated to America. Charles & Margaret farmed in Franklin twnshp, Harrison Co., OH. In the 1840 census there is a John Scott, age 40-50, living near them; I have not found this John in the 1830 nor the 1850 records. The known children of Charles & Margaret were: James 1832, m. Caroline LKU Mary 1833, m. ? Hamilton William 9/1834, m. Mary Catherin Auld Esther 1837, m. Andrew McBarnes Eleanor 8/6/1838, m. Henry Pittis Worstell Maria 7/25/1840, m. Aquilla Tipton Margaret 1844, m. Gideon Snee Isabelle 1846, m. Nelson Adams John D. 1847, m. Annis C. LKU Clifford 1855, m. Eliza LKU J.R. Maxwell Collecting the Dead & Irritating the Living
