    1. Re: Greene/Barry Cos, MO-Izard Co., AR SCOTT families
    2. Gary, I will pass along anything that can be confirmed to the SCOTT list but this is a mysterious bunch. I started out trying to track (for a friend) the family of (presented this way in 1860 Fed Census Union Twp, Izard Co., AR J. B. SCOTT 44 <1815> KY Nancy SCOTT (Hively) 35 <1824> AR Samuel SCOTT 17 <1840> AR Susan SCOTT 15 <1844> AR Jane SCOTT 13 <1846> AR Mary SCOTT 11 < 1848> AR Lucinda SCOTT 10 <1849> AR Angeline SCOTT 6 <1853> AR Nancy SCOTT 4 <1855> AR George SCOTT 7/12 <1859> AR Richard ELLIS 21 <1838> AL The 1850 Census shows an older daughter in this family as Martha SCOTT <1840> AR Also, 1870 Census shows another youngest son in this family as Daniel SCOTT <1861/2> AR so this would make a total of ten children to this family. The father in this family is also shown as James B. SCOTT, and we have information that James B. Scott is the brother to Jehoida J. Sams's wife, Sarah SCOTT. (Jehoida J. Sams writes about he and his wife both being orphans when they married, plus the fact that the Sams family raise the youngest sibling, Robert D. SCOTT in their household). The two siblings, James B and Sarah, both born in KY are closer in age than their other siblings that are known who are younger and were born in IL. The other known siblings were Nancy SCOTT (who little is known about) and the youngest known sibling, Robert D. SCOTT who m1 a Partee and m2 a Gillihan. The parents of these siblings has not been identified by us (and have not been found identfied elsewhere). But the interesting addition to this body of knowledge is that living next door to the J.B. SCOTT in 1860 is household #508 Jane SMITH 46 <1813> SC John DENTON 23 <1836> AR James DENTON 19 <1840> AR Samuel DENTON 9 <1850> AR Robert DENTON 6 <1853> AR Rebecca DENTON 1 <1858> AR (An older daughter, Martha DENTON is thought to have married John Ferguson before this Census) It is thought that the widow Jane Smith was previously the widow Jane Denton, who may be the Jane SCOTT that had married Jonathan DENTON in Greene Co., MO 03 Jan 1833. These new thoughts have led us to seek the family identification of the Joshua G. SCOTT and Samuel SCOTT that are documented in the 1833 Greene Co., MO Tax List. If anyone has any ideas as to the families of these two men, please let us know! Any information about Joshua G. or Samuel SCOTT's families might help us identify the parents of James B. SCOTT, Sarah SCOTT SAMS, Nancy SCOTT and youngest Robert D. SCOTT and now possibly another sister Jane SCOTT DENTON. If anyone knows anything about these folks, won't you please share your knowledge?
