I am stumped. "Ellen Gosnell died at the home of her son-in-law Mr. Jacob W. Myers, 323 North Stricker Street, Baltimore County, near Ellicott City. Mrs. Gosnell was in her seventy-eighth year and relict of the late Thomas B. Gosnell, for many years a bailiff in the Howard County Circuit Court. She was a second cousin of Gen. Winfield Scott. Her maiden name was Shipley, and her mother was a daughter of Richard Scott, who was a soldier of 1812, and uncle of General Scott. She leaves four children, namely; Messrs. Upton S., Charles S.,and Thomas G. Gosnell, and Mrs. Jacob W. Myers, all of Baltimore, and sixteen grandchildren." Here's a little more information for you all: Ellen Shipley Gosnell 28 Oct 1814-30 May 1892 was the daughter of Henry Shipley 8 Jan 1783-19 Aug 1833 and Sarah Ann Scott 1788(ish)-18 Nov 1852. And so...**who** is Sarah Scott Shipley's father, Richard Scott, and *where* does Richard come from? Thank you for reading my wall of agony, Kim :) ==== SCOTT Mailing List ==== You don't have to be a member of the Clan Scott Society to subscribe to this list.
