    3. Hello Sue, If you have access to the LDS Family History Libraries, you can bring in films on the respective areas for the price of 5$ U.S.. Otherwise, the bad news, is that Scotland has discovered a huge source of income. As such, you must pay to get genealogy information from Scotland, whether you pay to go into the SRO (Scottish Records Office) or do the internet . If fly to Scotland, (how cheaply?) then go into the SRO, it costs 15 British Pounds (B.P.) to enter the doors. The good news, they have indexed most of the census' and you you will be able to view the actual census. You can also do multiple searches on all their BDM's and again you can look at the actual record. Their internet access is one of the easiest and best of any country in the world. You can and should register on the Scotlands People website http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/index.aspx Take the time to learn about the site by cliking on "Getting Started" which gives primers on basic genealogy as well! as how to use the site. Thereafter, you must pay the princely sum of 6 B.P. to search their site for specified amount of information. For 6 B.P. I got four birth registrations for my family. That's a lot less expensive and quicker than driving to & fro a Family History Library, ordering film, and returning six weeks later to take six hours or more to view that un-indexed film which could have 2500 images.
