    3. My geneology efforts actually are for the families of a castle in Fife: St Monance/Monans, more commonly referred to as Newark Castle (one of four in Scotland, another in England). Thomas Scott of Pitgorno [born c 1470 - died 1539] (near Strethmeglo in Fife, obtained charter in 1526 and confirmed in 1551), married Agnes Moncreiff, and they had a son Thomas and a daughter Agnes Scott who married Thomas Dishington. The last date I can confirm is 27 October1545 when Agnes Moncreiff, widow of Thomas Scott and Thomas Scott (her son) sold 'our manor commonly called the New Wark of St Monans" to James Sandilands. In 1568 Thomas Scott of Pitgorno sold four merk lands of Finegand and the shelling of Gormel in GLenbeg. I assume this is the son who was a minor at least as late as 1540. The elder Thomas was the second son of Sir William Scott of Balwery/Balwearie and Janet Lundin of Lundin and was a favourite of James V, who appointed him Justice Clerk in 1535. He is mentioned as a ghost from hell who came back to haunt James V on the night of his death to warn the King against his irreligious lifestyle, in a book written by John Knox. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated. Nola
