I've made no progress in tracing my Scott ancestors, so I'm listing almost everything I know about my great-grandfather's life, hoping that something will "ring a bell" with someone on this list. Birthplace - various records show his birth place as Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, and Tennessee. The 1900 census shows his birthplace as Indiana and both parents as having been born in Kentucky. He "served in Companies I and F, 3rd Missouri Cavalry, Confederate, entering service as a private and attaining the rank of sergeant." He enlisted August 27, 1862, in McDonald County, Missouri, was surrendered at New Orleans, May 1865, and paroled Shreveport, Louisiana, June 1865. He married Nancy Jane Ainsworth in Union County, southwest Arkansas, September, 1865, and was the father of 7 daughters and no sons. He died 1907 in Union County, Arkansas His first daughter was named Charity Elizabeth for Nancy Jane's mother. Second daughter was named Nancy. The third daughter was named Mary, which may or may not provide a clue to David's mother's name. Many Scotts appear on the censuses for Union and Columbia counties, but all except David seem to have come from either Georgia or South Carolina. I'd appreciate any tips. (P.S., I can do Arkansas census look-ups, if anyone needs any.) Mary
