Searching for parents of Levi Thomas Scott b.5/8/1816 in Indiana. He m. Nancy Doyle 3/14/1839 in Peoria, Illinois. They moved to New Sharon, Iowa. Levi d.4/20/1896. Son Isaac Newton Scott was born in Illinois 6/1/1844, probably around Bushnell McDonough County area. Suspect the name Newton was a family name rather than naming his son after the scientist. Family lore says Levi Scott's father may have been William C. Scott, his mother Jane M. The family is very musical and it is said that Levi's father was in the war of 1812 and that the family moved to Indiana with one of the land grants. My grandmother (Levi's granddaughter) Rose Emily Scott (Rosemonde) once wrote that she had a parchment land grant that had been in the family but it has disappeared.
