    1. [SCOTT] New to the list
    2. Hi all, What brings me to the Scott list is the marriage and children of Frances Louisa (Handy) GREEN and Robert C. SCOTT. The following information is from the book "Annals and Memorials of the Handys and their Kindred", by Rev. Isaac Handy. Frances Louisa HANDY m. Mr. GREEN, a native of London, England, c. 1815. They had one son, Francis Alfred GREEN. Francis Alfred is my g-g-grandfather. Mr. GREEN died in 1818 while on business near Lake Erie. Now quoting from the book: "Mrs. Green formed a second matrimonial alliance at Pittsburgh on November 28, 1821, with Robert C. Scott, a machinist, and native of Pennsylvania. They were married by the Rev. Joseph Stockton. Mr. Scott's father was a soldier of the Revolution, and serving all through the war, died at the advanced age of ninety-eight years. Mrs. Scott was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for twenty years. Her husband belonged to the Reformed Presbyterian Church, in which connection he had been raised. They were both consistent Christians, ornaments to society, and a blessing to their children. Mrs. Scott died on March 2, 1845, and her husband on the same day of the month, the next year." (end quote) Rev. Handy lists the following children for Frances and Robert C. Scott: Lucretia Jane, b. Oct 31, 1822 John Handy, b. June 23, 1824, d. Dec 12, 1825 Joseph Stockton, b. Oct 22, 1825, d. May 27, 1833 Elizabeth Millighan, b. Jan 18, 1828, d. Feb 16, 1830 Benjamin Franklin, b. Nov 18, 1830 Jennet, b. Oct 6, 1832, d. Oct 9, 1832 Robert, b. Nov 5, 1833 Sylvanus Coleman, b. Aug 10, 1836 Abby Coleman, b. Feb 4, 1839, d. Feb 24, 1842 Hopefully this information will help someone. My interest would be anyone searching the ancestry of Robert C. SCOTT who might know who Frances Louisa Handy GREEN was married to prior to Robert C. SCOTT. Rick Monroe Long Beach, CA
