Hello Dorothy. Glad to hear from you. I am a Scott descendant, but relatively inexperienced, so bear with me. My oldest Scott is Lemuel, born about 1804, South Carolina, but his parents are uncertain as yet. I first found him on the 1830 census, Anderson county, SC, age 20-30, with wife, age 20-30, and two children, 1m 0-5; 1f 0-5. On the same page, same census, I found these: John Scott, age 80-90, wife age 70-80; three "other" females. Thomas Scott, age 50-60, wife age 40-50; 1m 0-5; one other female. David Scott, age 30-40; no obvious wife, but with two females in HH. In doing other research, I found Lemuel and wife, Mary A. (McDaniel) Scott in Elbert county, ga in 1840, then in 1850 census, Franklin co, Ga. They remained there, which became Hart County, Ga, in 1853, and died 1881. I am a native of Hart county, but live in South Carolina now. I discovered John Scott's will in Anderson co, SC, written 1833, proved 1837. I also found his Mil service record in "Abstracts of Revolutionary War", by White. It this John claims he was born 1742, Lancaster co, Pa, but moved to Iredell co, NC, and served in the Rev War. He gives his age, and his pension is noted. In John's will, he names his wife as "Sarah", and daughter, Jane Stephens, Mary Scott, Elizabeth Scott. John also mentions Thomas Scott, and David Scott, but does not identify them as sons, but I believe them to be son, Thomas, and possible g/son, David. Writen in Ink by an unknown hand later, was Margaret White. His will named Pennuel Price and David Scott as executors. Thomas was not otherwise named, as I later found him to have died, intestate, in 1833. I have his estate records, but they do not identify him as a son. Thomas land was divided between Elizabeth Scott, widow, and John Scott, father? A g/son, John Scott is also mentioned, but may be a son of Thomas and Elizabeth, as David did not have a son named John. The land owned by John and Thomas was located, and is south of Anderson, SC. I visited the area, and found John's grave marker, which verifies his birth and death dates. No sign of Sarah, Thomas, or Elizabeth, as well as David. David married Lucy Thornton, born Ga, and perhaps moved later. I have not found Jane Stephens, nor the daughters, Mary and Elizabeth Scott, who may have married. Your list of Scotts certainly sound as if they could be of the same line. If you think these are related, I would like further correspondance, and I could provide copies of the will, as well as the families as I have them in my computer, in an attachment to an e-mail message. Please let me know. Fred E. Crump, Sr
