    1. [SCOTT] Re: Scott, Baldwin, Merrick, Davis, Thornton, Smith
    2. Connie: From another correspondent I have a William Scott b. 1823 in KY and his parents b. in NC, but no names given. He married Mary Bagby. My William was born a bit earlier (probably 1797)) and married Mary Thornton in 1816. However, he could have been a cousin of your William. He moved to Henry County, Indiana in 1830's (a little later than I advised a previous correspondent) and subsequently to Macon County (Decatur) IL. He died in 1850 in that county. He had children James b. 1817, d. 1844, married Mary Ann Campbell; John b. ca. 1822; William M. b. 1823; Samuel L. b. ca. 1824, died in TX, and married an Ellen I think; Mary b. 1826, married George William Campbell in 1850 in IL; Jeems or Deems; Martha, b. 1828, d. 1898, married Milton Brown whose descendants also are in TX; Richard T. b. 1830, d. 1886, married Sarah Stewart; George???; Joseph b. 1833, d. 1911, married Virginia Querry; Daniel F. b. 1835, d. 1913, married Sarah Sheppard daughter of James Sheppard and Rebecca Jewett originally from Pickaway County OH; infant who died young. Then I have another William Scott b. 1795 in SC (maybe) whose father was John Scott b. 1763 in PA; mother Nancy Keith. William married a Nancy and had 13 children. Our Scott ancestors sure had a lot of children!! Now that I am digging through files, I find some info that might be of use to Ben who started this correspondence. This is just a scrap from someone else whom I can't identify but here it is: John and Jane Scott lived in Huggan Ing, Sawley Extraparochial District, Yorkshire, Eng. in late 1600's They had five children who survived and with their parents sailed to America, supposedly on the Britannia, arriving before 1700. Settled in PA. Town Edgely mentioned. Also Bucks County. The five children are listed as Ann m. John Baldwin; Sarah married John Smith; John married Hannah Merrick; Thomas married Mary Davis; Henry married??. Well, maybe some of this information will ring some bells out there. All the best, Maureen
