    1. [SCOTT] Scott surname in Ireland
    2. Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the list and thought I'd mention my line in case anyone can help me. I have 3 ancestors whose names were James Scott George, born between 1820 and 1860. The earliest was born "somewhere" in Ireland; the rest in Philadelphia, Pa. I have no concrete proof that Scott was a family surname, but I have also never come across that as a common first name for men during that time period, so I'm assuming it may have been a surname. My question then, for the list, is... Anyone have any Scott's in their line who married into a George, Wilson or Irvine line in Ireland in the early 1800s? Anyone know if the name Scott was common in certain areas of Ireland then? Thanks for any info. Holly Knott in Bucks County, PA
