I've just uncovered part of my SCOTT line and will gladly share with others... The find itself was unreal... I knew from censuses that my gg-gmom listed herself as AL, AL, AL I also knew here Maiden name was SCOTT..... ...so, I'm in an old, overgrown, gone back to the wild, cemetery in Lamar Co. TX,,, searching for a different line of family...I "accidently" spot a stone marking the grave of T.H. SCOTT 1820-1900, and it is marked saying that he was from MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA...his wife Elisabeth is next to him...I copied down info and took pictures...Later at the Library, in old newspapers I found my gg-gmom's obit. and sure enough it states that "she is dau. of T.H. SCOTT, one of the first settlers of LAMAR CO.TX..."...so I then found THOMAS HUMPHRIES SCOTT, son of WILLIAM F. SCOTT and NANCY JONES SCOTT. WILLIAM F. was a soldier in the WAR of 1812 and a Justice of the Peace in MADISON CO. ALABAMA. I have found that T.H. married Elizabeth CLUNN in 1846 and have found partial listings of some of their children and children's spouses... I'm happy to share info and would love to hear from anyone connected to this family. My gg-gmom it seems, is not known of by many researchers of this family and I hope to fill part of the gap in this SCOTT family line. my e-mail is [email protected] Travis W.
