I am looking for a John (Jno) Scott born January 1848 in Virginia. I believe he was an African - American. I do not know the county. I found out he was born in Virginia from the 1870 Federal Census (Georgia, Monroe County) when it was stated that he was 22 years old at the time. His wife's name was Mary ? I am trying to find out any information on him and would be grateful if someone would advise me on how to find out who his parents were. Thanking you in advance. Melanie (Scott) Williams
