Hi David, http://www.royalprovincial.com/military/musters/musters.htm Since you're a Scott, and last relative was maybe NYC during the Revolution, I think you'd fnd your Russell's father in the Loyalist militia/volunteer service. Especially check the "British Legion", who was trained by Colonel Patrick Ferguson & usually commanded on the field by Colonel Banistar Tarleston, in the Southern Theator (battles: Charleston, Cowpens, Yorktown). Many of the British Legion were recruited/trained in NYC, and specifically used in the South as Cornwallis' Invasion plan. Apparently many Loyalists removed to Canada if they had lived on the coast cities during the Revolution. just a though, Kenneth Scott David Scott <Dscott@redrock.net> wrote:Bill, The brick wall that my family has had for generations is Russell Scott b. about 1800 married to Maria Deluth their son was Russell (Russ) Scott b. abt 1831in NY? The proximity supports this theory and I have seen some records of these surnames in French Canada as well as the adjacant States in this time frame in the US. Carol, I have an Ann Scott b. 1757 Donegal, PA ( married Arthur Orr abt 1772/3 in PA ) I have no info on her family but the time frame might suggest same generation as your John. Let me know if you find them in Donegal. Peggy >Does anyone have any information on John Scott, son of James Tooke Scott (b >ca 1718-d bef 11/1763) and wife Christian Norsworthy (b ca 1720-?)? Does anyone have any information on John Scott, son of James Tooke Scott (b ca 1718-d bef 11/1763) and wife Christian Norsworthy (b ca 1720-?)? I am searching for an elusive Scott ancestor named John who was born somewhere in the 1740-1750 timeframe and moved to SW Pennsylvania in the late 1700s. We believe that he may have been a Quaker. I read that James Tooke and Christian (Norsworthy) Scott were also Quaker and am grasping at straws. Thanks for any help. Carol Loar
I have a number of missing generations between these two. Lazarus, grandson of the notorious Capt. John Scott of early Long Island history, would have been born circa 1685-1700, prob in Suffolk Co, NY. At some point he went to Ct, but later he and/or the family found its way back to NY. Lewis Elijah was born 1/19/1855 Wayne, MI, parents both from NY. He married Myrta Ward from Wyoming Co, NY. I have no idea who his parents were, but I think his grandfather's name was John. He was a cousin of Alexander C. Scott, who founded Fairview (originally Buena Vista), MI. Any clues would be most appreciated.
Dear Listers, I have a Jane SCOTT, b. 17/01/1846, at Weston Heath, Sheriffhales (Reg. Dist. Shifnal). Parents John Scott and Sarah Scott nee TAYLOR. On March 28th 1867, Jane married John SIMPSON, at St. Mary's Church, Moreton/Bromstead, Staffs. Although I have the 1861 census for Staffs., I cannot pin-down (in any one census) the 'right' Sarah Scott, - the age always seems to be slightly out of kilter and yes, I know that's what happens sometimes :) However 10 years seems a bit OTT, so I wondered if she could still be in Shropshire. Anyone out there who can give me a hand? Best Wishes, Penny
