    3. The following is a shot in the dark in trying to get past my brick wall: I am trying to find any descendants of John Thomas SCOTT b Madison Co. TN 1847 and m. Nannie K. Hudson in 1891. She was born in 1878. John Thomas Scott died in Madison Co. TN in 1918 and Nannie K. Scott died in 1924. Both are buried in Ebenezer cemetery in Malesus, Madison Co. TN. I know of one son, Floyd SCOTT, who was born of that marriage in TN in 1893. John Thomas SCOTT may have had children by a previous marriage since he was 41 years old when he married in 1891. Also buried nearby is Mattie K. Scott b. 1885 and d. 1891 (six years old) John Thomas SCOTT was the second son of George R. Scott who was born in Davidson Co. TN in 1817 and whose father was born in Virginia (identity not known) Any information on these individuals would be greatly appreciated. Genevieve Scott Bell

    2. I am particularly interested in East Tennessee Voiles, by any spelling, especially those in Greene, Morgan, Scott, or Anderson Counties. William Voiles, born in early Greene Co., TN 1810-1820 is my great-great grandfather. He was married to Elizabeth Ward, daughter of Enoch Ward and Elizabeth Trail and they moved from Greene Co, TN through Anderson Co, TN to Fentress Co., TN in early 1850s, according to tax lists and land records. William eventually moved into Kentucky late 1860s and married twice more. Second wife was Alvana Auterson/Otterson/Atterson and third wife was Pruda Collins, whom he married in his old age. 2. Jeane Moore
    3. My great-great-grandfather may have been James Scott who was born in Vermont in about 1807. I don't know what town. He was married to Amy Scott, also born in Vermont, in about 1813. They lived in New York, where at least three children were born (Charles, 1831, Philander, 1842, and Rensselaer, 1844), then in Ohio (Lester, 1846, and Wesley, 1849), then in the 1860 federal census, in Vermontville, Eaton Co, Michigan (Edwin, 1851, and Harriet, 1853). Charles is certainly my great-grandfather. Whether James is his father is as yet unknown. Any information about that connection and about James's forebears would be welcome. Jeane Moore

    3. Fact: There are 752 subscribers world-wide to this list as of today. Fact: There have been 162 postings to this list so far this month. Fact: This exceeds the previous highest number of postings ever posted in a month (Jan 1998 had 152 postings). However, Fact: There are at least 590 subscribers who have not posted this month! Let's hear from you! Please post your ancestors relevant to this surname list and, most of all, let us know what your BRICKWALLS are! Please be focused and to the point - don't list entire pedigrees! If you have a lot of SCOTT ancestors, consider sending several postings, each for a given locale or several postings with only two or three generations listed. The subject line should have a full name (if appropriate), locale abbreviation, a direction of migration, another locale abbreviation, and the approximate dates. For instance, George Scott moving from Scotland to New Brunswick, Canada, to Kentucky around 1820 to 1840 would look like: SCOTT, George SCT>NB CAN>KY abt. 1820-1840 If you don't know the complete name, migration route, or dates, it is permissible to leave them out of the subject line and put an explanation in the message body. However, the more complete the subject line, the more likely someone with a similar interest will read your email. BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE LOCALE AND DATE RANGE IN YOUR MESSAGE even if they are only your best guess. Both can make a huge difference in locating a likely connection!
