Hi Harry, Thank you Harry, I have been getting all your emails and apologize for not responding earlier. We have been having spring-like weather here in WI and I have been savoring every free moment doing outside work. I am staring to get a better picture of John Munnel and Jane Wallace's family and I thank you for your help. It seems that very little is known about their daughter Elizabeth other than she married a Mr. Scott. Although many secondary sources point to the possibility that Mr. Scott in my Robert Scott I still have no primary source. The only primary source I have linking Elizabeth to my family is her will; The LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ELIZABETH SCOTT (Carroll County, OH, Probate Book F, Page 529, probated on June 1, 1876) states "and to my granddaughter Laura J. Piles of Washington County, PA. fifty dollars in money." Laura Jane SCOTT Pyle was my great grandmother and she married William Wesley Pyle 10 Jun 1868 in Jefferson Co, OH (State of Ohio, Jefferson County, Court of Common Pleas, Probate Division, #12420) and they resided in Washington Co PA from 1870 till their deaths. Both Laura Jane SCOTT Pyle's death certificate (Commonwealth of PA, Dept. of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics File # 55875) and obit (WASHINGTON (PA) OBSERVER - June 24, 1910 Page 7) state that her parents were Samuel Scott born Ohio and Susana Light born Iowa and that Laura was born in Iowa November 5, 1848. Samuel Scott and Susana Light were married October 31, 1843 in Van Buren Co IA (Van Buren Co, IA, Marriage Record Book, Book A, Pg 44 #354) The marriage certificate states further " Mr. Samuel Scott, age 23, and Miss Susannah Light, age 36, married October 31, 1843 at residence of M. Jemeson." These ages fit well with both Samuel's and Susannah's tombstone information. The only item missing to successfully link this information is a primary source for the marriage of Elizabeth Munnel and Robert Scott. I have from secondary sources that they married 22 Nov 1804 in PA (History of Carroll and Harrison Counties, Ohio Vol. II, Pg 833. I am cross posting this to both the PAWASHIN list and the Scott list. Thanks again for all your help and assistance. I've made no progress in tracing my Scott ancestors, so I'm listing almost everything I know about my great-grandfather's life, hoping that something will "ring a bell" with someone on this list. Birthplace - various records show his birth place as Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, and Tennessee. The 1900 census shows his birthplace as Indiana and both parents as having been born in Kentucky. He "served in Companies I and F, 3rd Missouri Cavalry, Confederate, entering service as a private and attaining the rank of sergeant." He enlisted August 27, 1862, in McDonald County, Missouri, was surrendered at New Orleans, May 1865, and paroled Shreveport, Louisiana, June 1865. He married Nancy Jane Ainsworth in Union County, southwest Arkansas, September, 1865, and was the father of 7 daughters and no sons. He died 1907 in Union County, Arkansas His first daughter was named Charity Elizabeth for Nancy Jane's mother. Second daughter was named Nancy. The third daughter was named Mary, which may or may not provide a clue to David's mother's name. Many Scotts appear on the censuses for Union and Columbia counties, but all except David seem to have come from either Georgia or South Carolina. I'd appreciate any tips. (P.S., I can do Arkansas census look-ups, if anyone needs any.) Mary
Lynda, Do you happen to know if William H. Wyatt happened to have a daughter named Bridget b. about 1868? m. to a John Henry Scott? Thanks, Kim Padgitt (scott)

Good morning Listers: I am trying to identify the parents and siblings of MARGARETTE A. SCOTT, born 1821 IL, married JACOB L. WYATT Aug. 7, 1845 in Yell Co., AR. The marriage license says JACOB was "about 30" and MARGARETTE A. SCOTT was "about 25" and that they were both residents of YELL CO., AR. They appear in the 1850 SCOTT CO., AR census with children: WILLIAM H. WYATT, b. Aug. 1846, AR MARY M. WYATT, b. Apr. 22, 1848, AR COLLIN DENNIS WYATT, b. May 9, 1850, AR Another child, FRANCES MARION WYATT, was born Jan. 1853 in TX. Since Jacob L. Wyatt did not remarry until Mar. 27, 1856, to Eliza Williams in Bell Co., TX, FRANCES MARION WYATT should be MARGARETTE A. SCOTT WYATT'S last child. I don't have a definite date for MARGARETTE SCOTT's death but I would assume it is sometime betwen Jan. 1853 and Mar. 1856. I will appreciate hearing from any of you. MARGARETTE A. SCOTT is a brick wall for me at present. Hope some of you can help. Many thanks, Lynda Wyatt Green ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.
The last time I mentioned the Scott Family DNA project we got a few new test takers--we now have about 35 Scott's from different Scott lines in our project. If you have a Scott brick-wall, if you are a male with the Scott surname, or if you are a female and know a Scott male who will take the test, this is that extra way to try to find your lost ancestor. The test is simple, and the results will show if you have a common ancestor with anyone that has taken the test. You can contact the person you match, exchange info, etc. We also keep a database of the proven ancestors of the people in our project. This is helpful when we see a certain location, or different name of a spouse, etc. There is no profit to us except we learn more about the Scott families. If you would like to know more about what we are doing, send me an e-mail--or, visit the Family Tree DNA site. We also have a web-site where some of the early ancestors are posted: _Scott FamilyTreeDNA Project - Family Project Website_ (http://www.familytreedna.com/public/ScottDNAproject/) Good luck--Charlie Scott, Scott Family DNA project
John, I have long been interested in a Benjamin Scott of NC and GA. He was the guardian of the two youngest sons of Thomas Avera, Sr., Testator of 1761, Johnston Co NC. This Benjamin went to the Wilkes Co GA area not long after the War of Independence. He had large land holdings, he had Scott descendants as well as the two Avera boys. He was strong Methodist and some of his descendants were Methodist ministers. Now back in Johnston Co NC there were a group of Boones, Averas, Ingrams, Lees, and Scotts (Benjamin Scott's sister married a Poole, etc.) After the War of Independence representatives of these families migrated to TN and from there to AR, or to GA and from there to AL, and other points west, including AR. The timing of these migrations were varied and happened over many years. I have tracked one instance where the Lees, Ingrams, etc. Migrated to TN in two waves. The first to reach TN lived there a generation or so and then moved on the AR. The second bunch left a couple of generations later and did not stay long in TN and then went to Illinois. At the outbreak of the Civil War the AR bunch, who were pro Union, packed up and joined their Kinsmen in Illinois. I say this only to say that your Benjamin Scott might be a descendant of the Scotts in Johnston Co NC along with your mystery Boone. Sorry this is not more cogent but I am pressed for time. Does anything strike a bell. Franklin > -----Original Message----- > From: JOHN F.
