My name is Jo and I live in MN. I have been divorced for 29 years but getting married again this year - shaking in my boots. I have 2 sons, and 5 1/2 grandkids that live in VT and NH. This means I travel alot to visit them, which I love - I drive east at least twice a year to visit them and to do genealogy along the way. I fly out any other times I visit. So genealogy, history, traveling and my grandkids are my passions - with a few others thrown in to make it interesting. I have a Scott brick wall that I have not researched much due to some family conflicts. But I am going to put this out there and see if anyone has any info that might help. I am looking for information on: SCOTT, John C b. 1852, 1855, or 1857 (depending on the census you read) in Denmark. He immigrated in 1865 and was a naturalized citizen. He married Carrie ZIMMERMAN in 1895 apparently in MN. They had the following children: Willie b. Sep 1889 in Minnesota (Carrie may not have been his mother) Arthur b. 1894 or 1896 (census varies) in Minnesota George b. 1897 Minnesota Elam G. b. Jun 24, 1899 in North Dakota John Alexander Scott b. Jan 27, 1901 in North Dakota Ernest b. 1905 North Dakota Fredie b. 1908 North Dakota There is another John C Scott in Minnesota in the mid- 1800s as well. From what I can piece together this was a different person from the one noted above - he immigrated 20 years earlier and his wife's name was Mary. My father's half sister is the only person that might have any other information for me and she will not share anything due to the family skeletons in the closet. Too bad people don't realize that WE DON'T CARE!!!! I sure don't. Anyone related to any of John C and Carrie (Zimmerman) Scott's children? Thanks Jo Hogle
Hi - fellow Scott genealogists: I'm looking for Ella Pearl Scott, my mother's mother. She was born about 1898 I believe in California and died about 1928 according to my mother. She married Henry L. Hobbs abt 1916. He was born August 25, 1887 in Oregon. I believe he was an oilfied worker and died in 1946. My mother had 3 brothers, Cecil (moved to Louisiana) Henry Roland (Bud Hobbs-Country Western singer in the 40's and 50's), and Jack Hobbs. Ella Pearl died after the birth of her last son in 1928. My mom's dad remarried - Ercell Heath, she had 3 children, Bob, Herbert & Wanda. I found census info with the above but can go no further. My mother told me her mother had indian blood about 80% but I don't know which tribe. Also, she was a very tall woman probably about 6' or less, my mother was 5'10". (I'm short - 5'4") Any ideas where I can look as I am stuck on both grandparents. I have one picture of Ella Pearl with my grandfather and two other woman by an old automobile. My mother told me she was raised in Cuyama, California. I am also researching "Meadows, Riffe, Crotty, Clark". I am Brenda Wattenbarger, we moved to California at the age of 2. I am divorced, and took early retirement. Hobbies - machine embroidery, custom sewing, genealogy, and my grandchildren (I have 9 -from 5 yrs to 23 yrs). Any help would be appreciated. thanks, Brenda Wattenbarger brea1107@earthlink.net > [Original Message] > From: <SCOTT-D-request@rootsweb.com> > To: <SCOTT-D@rootsweb.com> > Date: 5/28/2005 2:00:12 PM > Subject: SCOTT-D Digest V05 #60 >

Hi listers, My name is Janice and I am now living in Boise, ID, after having lived in San Diego, CA for most of my life. My husband is retired and we have no children, but are surrounded by lots of rellies. I have been the family historian for many years, and have had lots of success on many of our lines. I am an artist specializing in botanical illustration...love to garden, camp, run, and bird watch. Our property is registered with The National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Habitat. Think my love of nature comes from my Native American roots on my father's side. I am descended from John SCOTT who died in 1727, PA, and left no male heirs to carry on the surname. His daughter, Margaret, was raised by John GARRETT and used his name so there has been much confusion about the lineage on this line. John was married to Margaret JAMES, who was descended from William and his father, Howell JAMES, who was a purchaser in the William Penn Colony in 1684. I would like to connect with anyone who is of this line. Best regards, Janice
My name is Lynn I live in Dallas Tx have just passed my 39th year of marriage was married at age 16 have three children and 8 grands and 1 gr-grand and another on the way main lines I am searching is KORNEGAY, ALLEN, BOATWRIGHT, PARKER, and one of those lines goes into the Scott line in the 1700's.
I am Joyce Dial Ubl. I live in Derwood, Maryland - right outside Washington, D.C. I'm married and have two sons. Our youngest son and his family had been living with us for a while, but just moved down to our home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We may follow next year. Life at the beach is quite nice - and the ocean is just good for the soul. My husband is retired from IBM - but somehow is still going into work 5 days a week. He enjoys the work - and promises to finally retire later this year. I have two strong hobbies - genealogy and gardening. I go overboard on both. I found my Scotts while researching the Littlepage family. RICHARD LITTLEPAGE and his wife, ELIZABETH MATHEWS SCOTT, moved from Brunswick County, Virginia, to Bedford County sometime about about 1778 - 1779. Richard died in Bedford County about 1780. Elizabeth found herself a young widow with seven young children. Within a year, she had married a widower, JOHN SCOTT, who also had five young children. In this blended family with 12 young people, Elizabeth's son, JOHN LITTLEPAGE, apparnetly fell in love with John's daughter, AMY SCOTT. They were married on May 25, 1785, in Campbell County. They were my great-great-great-great-great-grandparents. John Scott was born sometime about 1740 in Virginia. I do not know the name of his first wife. He died in 1795. The children from his first marriage were: AMY SCOTT LITTLEPAGE PLEASANT SCOTT MARY SCOTT HUSE NANCY SCOTT DUFFEE SALLY SCOTT MORTON John and Elizabeth Mathews Littlepage Scott had two more children: MARTHA (PATTY) SCOTT CARWILE MATHEW COBB SCOTT After John Scott's death, Elizabeth moved west with her youngest son. They settled in Missouri. From Family Bible! Mr. Hiram Spicer of Alliance, Ohio and Lydia Ann Scott of Lexington Twp, Ohio, united in Holy Matrimony on January 15, 1850 at the brides home by the Rev. Andrew Hanger. Witnesses: Benjamin Scott Margaret Scott Thus, begins my Scott connection. Hiram and Lydia 'Scott' Spicer were my Great Great Grandparents, he had been married before but his wife and two of his children had died before 1848, he had one remaining child who lived until 1859. Lydia Ann Scott was next to the youngest daughter of Isreal and Sarah 'Holloway' Scott, Quakers who came from Loudoun Co., Virginia. Benjamin Scott, who witnessed thier wedding was Lydia's uncle and Margaret was Margaret Ann English, born in Pa. Isreal Scott was the son Benjamin Scott who was born in Maryland and Sarah Randall, daughter of Joseph Randall and Rachel Griffith, from Pennsylvania. Benjamin was the son of Joseph Scott who was born in New Jersey and Ann Hayward, daughter of William Hayward and Mary Chaney. She was born in Maryland. Joseph Scott was the son of Jacob Scott who was born in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania and Hannah Forsythe, daughter of Matthew Forsythe and Rebecca Odling. She was born in New Jersey Jacob Scott was the son of Samuel Scott who may have been born in England and Mary Ames. They lived and died in Bensalem Twp, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania. Samuel Scott was the son of Thomas Scott who was born in England and may have come to Pennsylvania on one of the ships that brought the Quaker families to America. Thomas married Amy R. Fisher in England. And there is my Brickwall for that line. Any help? To proceed: I am Isaac Reese Spicer Jr son of Isaac Senior and Peggy Lee May. Isaac Senior was the son of Boyd H. Spicer and Mary E. Jewell. Boyd was the son of Alzie H. Spicer and Delzinia M. Pickens. And of course Alzie was the son of Hiram & Lydia. There's my line, starting in the middle, Iam always open to corrections help and new cousins, So bring 'em on!! P.S. I live in Idaho and hate to be called Isaac, I go by Reese. Reese Spicer

I have a William Scott born circa 1787 in Kentucky (county unknown). He married Mary Kidwell cir 1836 probably in Giles Co., TN. They appear together in the 1850 Giles Co., Tennessee census. Names of known children: Sarah E. Louisa Jane Lydia Malissa married Gustavus Angus, Jr. James J. Mary Josephine married a Rogers/Rodgers Lon Sis (could have been of the above girls.) I don't find William Scott after 1850. I find Mary in the 1870 Giles Co., TN. census, but not the 1860-- even though most of her children appear in Giles in 1860. I lose track of all of them after 1870, except Lydia who was my direct line. The Angus and Rogers surname are connected to this family. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Arthur FINCH and Hugh SCOTT which was taken at the Keithsburg Photo Gallery in Keithsburg, Illinois. The photograph was taken in 1898 with both men appearing to be in their 20's at the time. Arthur is noted as "Uncle" and Hugh is noted as "of Keithsburg" on the back of the photo. Based on limited research I believe that Arthur FINCH may be the same Arthur FINCH age 4 during the 1880 census of New Boston, IL who was living with his parents, Walter & Mary C. FINCH. Walter FINCH was age 30, born in IL to parents born in NC and VA respectively, a Farmer, his wife Mary C. FINCH age 26, was born in IN. At the time of the 1880 census the family included three children, Gracie age 6, Arthur age 4, and Howard age 1, all born in IL. Also living with the family was Mary's sister, Anna NEFF age 22 born in IN. The photograph was recovered with others including the surnames FIRSTA from Lead, SD and SAIMOA. I don't know how the photographs are connected, however I mention it just in case there is a connection. I'm hoping to locate someone from these families so that the photographs can be returned to them. If you are a member of one of these families, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
