Still trying to locate the parents of Charles Scott b.1805/06 in then Jefferson Co, OH- d. 4/18/1864 Deersville, Franklin twnshp, Harrison Co., OH. He married Margaret Dodds b. 9/1811 (8/1810?) Ireland- d. 8/14/1881 Deersville. Both are buried in the cematery at Freeport. Margaret's parents were James Dodds & Esther Clifford. There are a lot of Scotts in Jefferson County in the early census records. And there has not been enough information for me to eliminate many of these households from the "possible" list.. By 1840 Charles and Margaret had their own household; m. April, 1830 Harrison Co., OH. I have found Margaret's parents living nearby. Anyone having any luck with determining Charles Scott's parentage? Thanks to all who have contacted me with information on Charles and Margaret's descendants. J.R. Maxwell Delaware Co., OH
Hello, all. Thomas SCOTT b. 6-15-1718 in Caroline Co., VA., later became the husband of Martha WILLIAMS, b. 5-2-1727, also in Caroline Co. The father of Thomas was James SCOTT, b. before 1690 in Scotland, and his wife was Barbara CLAN, all data unknown. Were James and Barbara married in Scotland, or after they met in the colonies?? Who were the parents of James? Where in Scotland was he born? When did he migrate to the colonies?? Who were the parents of Barbara? Where was she born? If she was born in Scotland, when did she migrate to the colonies?? You can see that there is just a little bit of missing info, here!! Thanks very much for any help!! Joe DUKE

Today in 1771 Sir Walter Scott, poet and novelist, was born in Edinburgh. Scott's first successes lay in the field of poetry, where his "The Lay of the Last Minstrel" brought him instant fame. However a series of bad business decisions, including those of buying a stake in both his printer and publisher. Both suffered during the crash of 1826 and Scott himself was bankrupted, and he died in 1832 having had to write furiously during the last years of his life to pay off his creditors. Hello, fellow SCOTT researchers. I have searched for years to locate parent/sibling information for my GG-Grandfather, Andrew Bascom SCOTT, b. 13 March 1874 in Alabama, d. 22 April 1928 in Childress, TX. A.B. SCOTT was married 3 times. Although, I have a good deal of information on his wives and children, I have yet to discover anything on his parent's names or siblings names. My information has come from a family bible and census records, but I have also failed to locate a certificate of death to authenticate my death and place of death data or an obituary. An obituary for his son, Earnest has been located. Also, I have found the names, Giles SCOTT and Anne SEWELL, handwritten on an old document from my grandmother, but I do not know exactly if or where these folks would fit. Following is some of the family info I do have. If anyone can help or point me to a good resource, I would be very grateful! Also, I am happy to share more details on the following family groups if anyone is interested. Andrew Bascom SCOTT & Francis (Fannie) WHITEHEAD m. 15 July 1897 Children: Nellie Temperance (my G-Grandmother) Mattie May Floyd Opal Annie Wiley Bascom Jessie Odel Andrew Bascom SCOTT & Elizabeth (Lizzie Mae) FINLAYSON m. 7 August 1912, TX Children: Earnest Eugene Birdie Gay Andrew Bascom SCOTT & Dovie HOLMES m. 21 August 1918, TX Child: Charlie Travis Thank you!
