Looking for Ira C. Scott born June 1860 Pennsylvania Ira C. Scott is my great-grandfather. I have not been able to find any birth record for him or any marriage records. The information I do have was given to me by my grandmother Ruth Smiley Scott's memories and from a document she had in her possession. Thomas A. Scott wrote the document in 1900, in Chillocothe , Ohio. It told the history of William Scott who came to the US in about 1741 with his wife Margaret Polly Calhoun. Thomas A. Scotts parents were Francis Scott born 8/9/1782 in Allegheny Co., PA and Elizabeth Axtell born 8/15/1805. The document also included stories regarding James Scott as related by Mrs. Margaret Tuttle ,James Scotts Granddaughter, in Missouri (Written by E.Wilson) I know that Ira C. Scott was in Colorado in the early 1900s from correspondence that my grandmother had. The 1900 Colorado, Arapahoe Co., Berkley division Census shows that he was born in PA in June 1860, he was there with his wife Mary Boggs (born Iowa 1867) and his Son Harry Boggs Scott (born Iowa Aug. 1890). His father was born in PA and his mother was born in Ohio. He had been married 11 years (married in 1889). He was an Iron Molder. Mary Boggs was the Daughter of Perry Boggs and Jemima Welch of Albia Iowa; Ive traced her family fairly easily. Ira C. Scott is shown on the 1887 Leadsville Colorado City Directory as a coach cleaner, D&.R.G.R.R., r.1501 N. Poplar (there are also a L.C.Scott Car repairer same business and address ). Ira C. Scott is shown on the 1888 Leadsville Colorado City Directory as a car repairer.D&RGRR r 1501 N.Poplar (/There is also a Miss Lizzie Scott , boarding same address and a Luzerne C. Scott car inspector, D&RGRR same address and a Thomas A. Scott and Willliam F. Scott all the same address) Ira C. Scott is shown on the 1898 Denver Colorado City Directory as a miner, living r 3553 William . I have correspondence from a S.B. and Celestia Phillips in Athens , Ohio calling Ira brother and correspondence from an Elizabeth Scott who was in N.Y. City in 1910 taking graduate courses in nursing calling him brother . I have letter from an Angeline Hodge in Greenville Pa calling him brother. It turns out that Angeline Hodge is Angeline Scott, daughter of Thomas A. Scott and Phoebe Drake. Angeline was born in Hebbardsvillle, Athens, Ohio, and married Elijah Hodge in 1874. Mary Scott moved to Syracuse, NY in about 1922 to live with her Daughter-in-law and Son (and only child) Harry. Ira was not in evidence after that. I dont know if he died or they were divorced. They last piece of correspondence I have from Ira was in 1918 ,postmarked Los Angles , CA to Mary who was staying with her niece Lura Rosella Clark Morganson in Escalon Ca.(daughter of John R. Clark and Louisa (Lilla) Boggs.) Ive gone back from Thomas Scott and Phoebe Drake to Francis Scott and Elizabeth Axtell to James Scott and Rachel Forbes to William Scott and Margaret Peggy Calhoun and have a lot of information on the various families tied to them but I really need some help finding a concrete tie to Ira and this family. I cant find Thomas Scott and Phoebe Drake on any Census in Ohio or Pa. Im hoping someone out there is a descendant of Thomas A. Scott and Phoebe Drake and has records of their Children and is willing to share it. Thanks you so much for your help it really is appreciated. II hit the send button too fast. The correct dates on the email just sent are: Mary Ann was born in 1820 and married in 1838. Doris
Mary Ann "Polly" SCOTT was born 1838 in Kentucky, possibly Madison Co. She had at least three siblings, Harden and James Netus SCOTT. Mary Ann married Alfred Wooldridge in Russell Co. KY April 6, 1939. By the 1850 census, she and her family, including brothers Hardin and James, Netus and also an Elizabeth SCOTT were in Chariton Co. MO. There is a possibility that Elizabeth could possibly be a stepmother to Mary and Hardin and James' biological mother. Who is Mary Ann's father? Andrew SCOTT signed her marriage bond but I saw one piece of data that said that James SCOTT was the father of this family. Can anyone help me knock some bricks out of my wall? Doris
Scotts in Recovery Twnshp, Mercer Co. Ohio Hope someone will recognize their Scott families who lived in Mercer County, OH. I found the census record of 1860 Recovery Twnshp, Mercer Co. as below. Our line comes from Joseph and Mary Elnora. Thank you. Denise [email protected]
Hello Dorothy. Glad to hear from you. I am a Scott descendant, but relatively inexperienced, so bear with me. My oldest Scott is Lemuel, born about 1804, South Carolina, but his parents are uncertain as yet. I first found him on the 1830 census, Anderson county, SC, age 20-30, with wife, age 20-30, and two children, 1m 0-5; 1f 0-5. On the same page, same census, I found these: John Scott, age 80-90, wife age 70-80; three "other" females. Thomas Scott, age 50-60, wife age 40-50; 1m 0-5; one other female. David Scott, age 30-40; no obvious wife, but with two females in HH. In doing other research, I found Lemuel and wife, Mary A. (McDaniel) Scott in Elbert county, ga in 1840, then in 1850 census, Franklin co, Ga. They remained there, which became Hart County, Ga, in 1853, and died 1881. I am a native of Hart county, but live in South Carolina now. I discovered John Scott's will in Anderson co, SC, written 1833, proved 1837. I also found his Mil service record in "Abstracts of Revolutionary War", by White. It this John claims he was born 1742, Lancaster co, Pa, but moved to Iredell co, NC, and served in the Rev War. He gives his age, and his pension is noted. In John's will, he names his wife as "Sarah", and daughter, Jane Stephens, Mary Scott, Elizabeth Scott. John also mentions Thomas Scott, and David Scott, but does not identify them as sons, but I believe them to be son, Thomas, and possible g/son, David. Writen in Ink by an unknown hand later, was Margaret White. His will named Pennuel Price and David Scott as executors. Thomas was not otherwise named, as I later found him to have died, intestate, in 1833. I have his estate records, but they do not identify him as a son. Thomas land was divided between Elizabeth Scott, widow, and John Scott, father? A g/son, John Scott is also mentioned, but may be a son of Thomas and Elizabeth, as David did not have a son named John. The land owned by John and Thomas was located, and is south of Anderson, SC. I visited the area, and found John's grave marker, which verifies his birth and death dates. No sign of Sarah, Thomas, or Elizabeth, as well as David. David married Lucy Thornton, born Ga, and perhaps moved later. I have not found Jane Stephens, nor the daughters, Mary and Elizabeth Scott, who may have married. Your list of Scotts certainly sound as if they could be of the same line. If you think these are related, I would like further correspondance, and I could provide copies of the will, as well as the families as I have them in my computer, in an attachment to an e-mail message. Please let me know. Fred E. Crump, Sr

William Scott, B: May 1742 Townsend MA was a Major in the Rev. War and of military fame. He lived in Peterborough, NH. and at the time of his death he was in Litchfield, NY, 1796. A daughter and her husband lived there, Polly and Ebenezer Ramsey. I have his parents as Alexander Scott and Margaret Robbe Scott. William was married to Phoebe Woods. Another source is saying that the parents of William are John Scott and Mary Chamberlain Scott of Groton, MA. Can anyone help? Hi all, What brings me to the Scott list is the marriage and children of Frances Louisa (Handy) GREEN and Robert C. SCOTT. The following information is from the book "Annals and Memorials of the Handys and their Kindred", by Rev. Isaac Handy. Frances Louisa HANDY m. Mr. GREEN, a native of London, England, c. 1815. They had one son, Francis Alfred GREEN. Francis Alfred is my g-g-grandfather. Mr. GREEN died in 1818 while on business near Lake Erie. Now quoting from the book: "Mrs. Green formed a second matrimonial alliance at Pittsburgh on November 28, 1821, with Robert C. Scott, a machinist, and native of Pennsylvania. They were married by the Rev. Joseph Stockton. Mr. Scott's father was a soldier of the Revolution, and serving all through the war, died at the advanced age of ninety-eight years. Mrs. Scott was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for twenty years. Her husband belonged to the Reformed Presbyterian Church, in which connection he had been raised. They were both consistent Christians, ornaments to society, and a blessing to their children. Mrs. Scott died on March 2, 1845, and her husband on the same day of the month, the next year." (end quote) Rev. Handy lists the following children for Frances and Robert C. Scott: Lucretia Jane, b. Oct 31, 1822 John Handy, b. June 23, 1824, d. Dec 12, 1825 Joseph Stockton, b. Oct 22, 1825, d. May 27, 1833 Elizabeth Millighan, b. Jan 18, 1828, d. Feb 16, 1830 Benjamin Franklin, b. Nov 18, 1830 Jennet, b. Oct 6, 1832, d. Oct 9, 1832 Robert, b. Nov 5, 1833 Sylvanus Coleman, b. Aug 10, 1836 Abby Coleman, b. Feb 4, 1839, d. Feb 24, 1842 Hopefully this information will help someone. My interest would be anyone searching the ancestry of Robert C. SCOTT who might know who Frances Louisa Handy GREEN was married to prior to Robert C. SCOTT. Rick Monroe Long Beach, CA
