Good morning, Will. First, in response to your question, re Leonardo Andrea. Leonardo Andrea, born 1899, died 1966, was a teather, historian, and very well known genealogist, living and working in South Carolina. His work in genealogy was very extensive, and was not restricted to any particular surname. His accumulation was vast, and covered many surnames of people living in South Carolina, and followed them westward and into the middlewest. His correspondance was also extensive, and he did professional genealogy work for years. His work was given to the Carolinianna Library located at Columbia, part of the University of South Carolina. These are open to the public. Apparently they reproduced the records on microfilm, as the Library at Spartanburg, SC, has copies. I was able to print out the file on the SCOTTs of the area. I must say, these Scotts must have a family trait, reticence, as it is difficult tying the families together. There was a immigration of SCOTTs and associated families into SC circa 1767. Most of these settled in the coastal areas, slowly migrating into the midlands and upper SC as the Native Americans retreated into the mountain and westward. These SCOTTs were in Georgia very early also, having come down from Virginia and North Carolina. Some even came here from Maryland and Pennsylvania. Yes, I can handle attachments from JUNO. If fact, I prefer information this way, as some of the gedcom files, especially those of family tree, do not convert easily. Also, I understand that [email protected] does not accept attachments. As for the listing of Scotts in the War of 1812, I will log onto that site. I have also copied all Scotts listed in the "Abstracts of the Revolutionary War, by White. There is a lot of information there. Best regards, and good luck. Fred E. Crump, Sr

Can anyone give me feedback on a Family Tree Program? There are soooo many out there that I am very confused about the right one to buy. Jennifer: I have tried three and, hands down, recommend Family Tree Maker. It does more for you, including searches, and is easier to use than any of the others I have tried. Also, easy for the first time user to start right off with. GEDCOM file downloading and uploading is tops, and simple. You can get the basic version 7.0 or higher online at their website, with about 12 CDs, for around $65. You don't need to buy more CDs to start with as most of the info is available off the web or from people on the nets. Good luck, and let me know if you need help. My son John Hill (16 years of age& great grand son of Thomas Mitchell Scott) is currently researching the Scott tartan and looking to have a greater involvement with Clan Scott Society or the like. Any information or direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Regards Kate Hill
FYI. I have tried many genealogical programs, and finally settled on "Brother's Keeper" for my database, which contains thousands of people in many separate files. This program will handle up to one million names, and has great charts and other features. Fred E. Crump, Sr
Scott Listers, Can anyone give me feedback on a Family Tree Program? There are soooo many out there that I am very confused about the right one to buy. Thanks for all of your help! Jennifer (Scott) Reinhart [email protected]
Joyce: I ran across your note and can't find where I answered you about your Sarah. My apology for taking so long. You stated that a Sarah Scott was listed in 1850 Jefferson City, Ohio census as the mother of 5, no father listed. Children were Jesse, William W., Elizabeth M., Henrietta, Amanda. If this is the link to my Jesse Scott, here is what I have. I know my GGrandfather, Jesse Scott, was born in 1820, died Dec 3, 1872, in Delaware Twp., IN. He married Susan Wilkins, b. May 21, 1820, d. Sep 9, 1868, also in Delaware Twp. They had at least one child, Martha M. (Mary) Scott, b. Oct. 16, 1850 in Stout (now called Bethel), IN. She married my Great grandfather, William Harrison Cummins in Muncie, IN, in 1868. In 1875 the Cummins family moved from IN to KS, and Mary died in 1890 in a hospital in Kansas City, MO. Two of their four children lived, Cora and Orville (my grandfather). It is also interesting that after Mary's death, my Great Grandfather married Nettie Howard of West Jefferson, OH. Even returned there for the wedding. Do you think any of this links? Patrick Stover Cummins Fairfax, VA Researching Cummins, Comyn, Hamilton, Scott, Kraft, Stover, Lewallen
