Looking to see if Alexander Scott and John Scott are related as they are both born in NY and per census 3 years apart. Also if there is anything on Alexander Scott that someone could share with me. Also trying to find out what became of the children of Alexander and Elizabeth: (all probably born in or near Mercer Co. and they are there in census during this time) Alexander Scott b. 1826 (per census) and Elizabeth McDowell-Scott b. 1829. Joseph 4 M Ohio Sarah 9/12 F Ohio (Joseph married Mary Elnora Franklin. They moved on to Indiana - ending up in Daviess County. This is my direct line. Mary E.s parents: George Franklin and Harriett E. Greene, married in Mercer County in 1858 and are found in Jay County Indiana Census of 1870. ) The McDowells are found in Scioto Twp, Jackson County, Ohio Some lived there prior to moving to Mercer County. There are some Scotts mentioed there too. An Alexander Scott is listed on a census, but not sure who he is. Maybe relative to my Alexander, and maybe they all traveled to Mercer county together. My grandfather Charles SCOTT, his wife Lydia nee Tucker and three children, along with his sister Grace Dawson, her husband Ralph and 2 children, immigrated to Virden, Macoupin County, Illinois in the year 1910. Left behind in Houghton-le-Spring England were his father George SCOTT, step mother Sarah Jane. Also brothers Martin, Francis, Henry, William and Frederick. Also sisters Margaret along with half sisters Hannah & Annie. My great grandfather George passed away in 1912 in Houghton-le-Spring. He left considerable property to his children Outram and Henry streets in Houghton-le-Spring. Have been looking for descendants of any of the above for several years. I am looking for John Scott, father of Mary Jane Scott born in Burlington, Vermont in 1854. Unknown who her mother was as per her marriage and death records her mother was listed as 'unknown'. Mary married Charles Willard in Maine and they apparently moved back to Burlington where their children were born then back to Maine again in the late 1800's, settling in the Franklin County area. Ok folks, this may be the BIG BREAKTHROUGH of that BIG BRICK WALL!! Does anyone know or have a Cal (Calvin?) Scott who had a farm at Amherst,Tx and is buried on that farm. His first wife was CLara. He has a son named Ray and a daughter named Millie May who married an Epperly from Sudan. Ray homesteaded a place between Littlefield and Lubbock Tx. I am looking for a John (Jno) Scott born January 1848 in Virginia. I believe he was an African - American. I do not know the county. I found out he was born in Virginia from the 1870 Federal Census (Georgia, Monroe County) when it was stated that he was 22 years old at the time. His wife's name was Mary ? Moved to N. Carolina, then about 1820 moved to Madison Co. Alabama where he settled and died. He had 5 Sons, all US born: Wm. Alexander SCOTT Jr.; Henry J. SCOTT; John T. SCOTT; Robert T. SCOTT; and Thomas W. SCOTT.

All the "talk" about Scotts in the UK made me sit up and take notice. My great- grandparents, James and Elizabeth (MacBirney?) Scott came to the US from someplace in Scotland in 1875 or 1876 and supposedly settled in Chicago. However, I can't find them in any Chicago census. They had four children: Walter (b. July 19, 1876 in Chicago?), James, Ella, and Willa. Evidently James and Elizabeth died in California. Can anyone help me find out more about these people?
