I am trying to find someone who is researching an Anthony Scott born between about 1816 to 1820 near Giles Co in southwest Virginia . I am researching descendents of Henry Scott and Mary Elizabeth Criner who married 1816 in Giles Co., Va. In the 1820 Giles Co.,Va Census , Henry and Elizabeth had 2 sons under the age of 10. One of the boys in 1820 was my gg-grandfather, John O. Scott. John's sister Annie married Daniel Boster in 1842 and one of the witnesses was an Anthony Scott. No other information is known about him and he doesn't appear in Giles Co., Va records after that.Who is he ???? Henry Scott managed to escape the census after that even though there is evidence he was in the county until at least 1855. Any information is greatly appreciated. Barbara
If any of you are tracing family history in and around Kansas City, Missouri this could possibly be useful information. If not, please disregard. This was in Tues, 8 May, Springfield MO News Leader, p. 5B: Discovery of cemetery halts roadwork--Associated Press-Kansas City-Construction of a new highway in south Kansas City has been halted by the discovery of a small cemetery dating back to the Civil War era. State officials are anxious to find any descendants of the Holloway family who are buried in the cemetery. If the heirs can't be found, the state will have to get court permission to move the nine graves in the plot, in order to finish a new Missouri 150. Construction workers recently unearthed a marble headstone, dating from 1858, while moving a large section of water pipe. Archaeologists later found another headstone and evidence of seven other graves. The site has not been disturbed further.

My name is Sheri Jensen. While I do have Campbell's in my lineage, this is not my line. I recently visited an antique/junk shop near my home here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I found an old marriage certificate with the following information on it. I would dearly love to see it back in the hands of it's rightful owner. It is a fancy certificate that shows that on Dec. 10, 1885 John F. Scott was married to Rosa E. Campbell, in Linn County, Iowa. If anyone is from this line is interested let me know. The certificate in an old frame was priced at $20.00. I will gladly go get it and ship it to anyone who wants it. I just hate seeing family memories sold at antique shops. Thanks for your time and I really hope this email finds a home for this certificate. Thanks, Sheri

Looking for descendants of George William Scott married to Alice Cornell in England mid to late 1860's. Had son George Jr. born in 1869. Family then emigrated to New York. They had five more sons, Alexander, Harry, Philip, Roland and Arthur. If you think you may be related, I'd love to hear from you. [email protected]
Sorry for the intrusion, but it is time once again to remind everyone about the purpose of this distribution list. >From time to time I am reminded that there are people who don't understand the purpose of this list -- It is solely for the purpose of inquiries and discussions directly related to the Scott surname. Other discussions will not be tolerated because if the focus is lost, this list becomes worthless. I trust the majority of subscribers understand this. I have seen a consistent growth of at least 100 more people joining the list than leave it each year. Currently, there are just under 800 subscribers worldwide. Please remember the narrow focus of this list when you post messages. I don't like sending reminders and I don't like kicking out blatant repeat offenders but, as long-time subcribers know, I will do it. Now, let's get back to finding our SCOTT ancestors! I just wanted to tell everyone about this new website that I found that I think is really great and it's FREE! If all of us would add our ged files here we might locate more lost family members. http://www.gencircles.com/ They offer smart matching which is: SmartMatching compares the individuals in your file against all of the individuals in our Global Tree. We run a detailed search on every individual in your file, and see where your individuals match up with other individuals in other people's files. SmartMatching enables you to immediately see where other users have information that you are missing, and vice versa. This technology is only available at GenCircles and is amazingly fast and accurate. For a file with 250 individuals, it would take someone days to run all these searches. Imagine how long it would take for a 50,000 individual file. Our SmartMatching system does it all for you, automatically, in a matter of seconds. To have SmartMatching work on your file, you will need to join and upload your genealogy file to our Global Tree.

Have just subcribed today and am posting my interests to see if they ring a bell with anyone. My maternal grandmother was Violet Evelyn Scott, born 23rd May, 1914. Her parents were Thomas Henry George Scott and Lydia Jane (Beavis). They lived at 19 Arthur Street, Hove, East Sussex in 1914 when my grandmother was born, and her father was a laundry vanman. She had sisters, Ivy and Lily, and 2 brothers, (not sure of their names). My nan went on to marry George Victor Howe of Shoreham, and my mother, Jennifer Rosemary was born 2-12-41 with my aunt Patricia being born 4-1-45. If this looks familiar please get in touch. Caroline Dyson.
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Katherine SCOTT-COUNTRYMAN taken at the Sterry Studio in Albany, New York. The photo was taken when Katherine was just 14 months old, likely sometime in the 1880's. In addition to her name and age someone has also written "From Grandma" and the back of the photograph. I'm hoping to locate someone in Katherine's family so that the photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

So Sorry I hit the wrong button! My e-mail went before I could finish it. My grandmother Louise Bell died of child birth on July 24, 1922. I have come to some conclusions. My grandfather adopted out the younger children. This was possibly Harry about 3 or 4 years old, Donald Jeff just 2 years old and the twins. It may be that Harry and Donald went to friends in Siskiyou ca. I have discovered a connection between my adopted grandparents in Oakland that leads back to Siskyou County. With marriages it is hard to find the girls and they are the most likely to be alive. My father was Edgard and his brother William never married so I have no family and really want to find them. I would appreciate any help. I'm thrilled to be a member of the Scott Clan. Shelly Garrison
