    3. Rosemary & all - Does anybody have any information on a Mathew Cobb Scott? He was born in Campbell County, Virginia, in 1783. He was the son of John Scott and his second wife, Elizabeth (Mathews?) Littlepage Scott. Mathew married first Elizabeth Wayne in 1804. They had 13 children. He second married Elizabeth Barnes and had one more child. He died in 1852. The family moved to Callaway County, Missouri, in 1829. His mother, Elizabeth, moved to Missouri with them. 3. I am new to the list. I am looking for the wife and parents of Archelaus Scott. He was born probably in VA before 1765 and moved to KY by 1789, first to Fayette Co., then Woodford Co. (1800 census), and finally Shelby Co. (1810 census). He died ca. 1820. He had several sons and daughters, but only daughters Martha, Mary, and Betsey are known from the marriage records. An Archelaus Scott m. Ann Robinson in Shelby Co. 1830, and that may be his son. In the records he was often called Archibald, but his grandson Archelaus S. (Scott?) Pulliam clearly carried that name to his grave (on the gravestone). Joseph Lambert

    3. Sorry Scott's and thanks for all the replies. I should have given more info. Cosby Scott born Goochland, VA 1768, married Sara Bunch, born Bedford, VA 1789. The had a child James Scott, born KY 1805. This James had a son James G. Scott, born IN 1846, died 1835-38 in AR. Family bible says 1938. The last James (James Gideon, Gidian, Gidion) I think may be mine, As dates of birth and death are correct.. Family members have told me that he was blind and died in a fire, but no one remembers exact place of death. LDS records have a James G. dying in Arkansas, but a grandson of his remembers something about Sedalia, MO. My James G. Scott, married twice: Mary M. Burkett (b.& d. IN) and Sarah Jane Crabtree, (b. IN, d. KS 1887) Hope this helps confirm my James G.'s family. Thanks everybody. Sharon

    3. Hello list and Shannon particularly -- what you posted doesn't jibe with anything I have; but it has been a while since I mentioned my ancestor JOHN SCOTT, known in Massachusetts as "John Scott of Brookfield", who came on the ship Elizabeth to Boston/Hull in 1719. It was a plague ship, and John Scott, who was listed as a farmer, was forced westward. He eventually settled in Westfield, Mass., had a wife AGNES, two sons, JOHN and DAVID. The latter, my ancestor, fought in the Revolution and died in Meadsville, PA. His wife was named Mary. (His daughter Mary married into the fabulously ancient, prolific and well-researched Dewey family -- her son married right back into the Riding Families -- Dickson and Hayfield) If anyone wants that information I can document it -- if anyone is a relation or knows more about the early history of the family, I'd love to hear from you.
