Hi List My Scott is George Thomas (I think) Scott. He was born 1852 somewhere in Illinois. He married Melvina Andrews in 1876 in McHenry County, Illinois. He doesn't show up on the McHenry County census. They moved to Putnam County, Illinois and that is where their children were born. Purella 1879, Orvil 1876, Harvey 1886, Nellis 1887-1888, Albert 1892-1892 and Martha 1894-1894. George was a laborer for the Railroad in Putnam County. Laurie

Yes, my Scotts (William and Martha Thornton Scott) went from Mason Co. KY to Henry Co. IN to Macon Co IL, arriving there by about 1840. From there the children went to IN, MO, and KS as far as I know. Maureen

Laurie My ancestor, Israel Scott, was in Vermillion Co., IL in 1845. Israel was b. 1824 in Ohio,and moved to IL. He married Sarah Jane Miller in 1845 in Newell Twp., Vermillion Co., IL. Between 1853/1860 they moved to Iowa. They later traveled to Oregon and were in Clackamas County, OR by 1868. They lived there until their deaths; Israel in 1897 and Sarah in 1896. I have no idea who Israel's parents or siblings were. Israel is my largest brick wall. However, I suspect he may have been a descendant of the Israel Scott who served in Rev. War for NJ. On census Israel put that his father was born in PA. Carol

Has anyone come across a James Thomas SCOTT in the 1850 census, or any census after 1850? He was b/1802 in Lincoln Co., NC, moved to Overton Co., TN at an early age, and was in Davidson Co., TN in 1840-45. He may be listed in the 1850 census (AL, AR, MS, TX, ??) as J. T. OOPS!! Sorry; I'm so accustomed to sending out emails in HTML. I'll try to remember for future times!! My maternal grandmother Nellie D. Scott was born in Crawford Co., IN in 1891. Her parents were (to the best of my knowledge) Franklin Martin Scott born 1823 and Elizabeth Jane Carpenter. There were two brothers, Alva Roy Scott born 04.20.1862 and George Washington Scott born 01.10.1853. Given the big differences in the dates of birth there very well may be other siblings in between that I’m not aware of. According to reliable sources, Nellie is listed as a daughter in the household of Martin Scott in the 1900 census; Crawford Co., Jennings Twshp., household 94. Franklin Martin’s parents were Henry Harrison Scott and Mary Elizabeth Clendenning. Their children were: Franklin; Henry born 1854; Milton born 1855; Sarah born 1858; and Oliver born 1859. If anyone can provide me with information either on additional siblings and other family members both further back and/or more recent I’d be greatly appreciative.

Scott's, Jim Rouse here. This is a repost, Clara SCOTT of New Hanover Co, NC. She was born 1815 married John Beasley ROUSE around 1834. The family relocated from NC around 1846/7. Settling in Paducah, McCracken Co., Ky. Clara came down with pneumonia and died in 1853. The records we have found show she was the daughter of ISAAC and MARY (MAY) SCOTT. Speculation is that this family came out of Virginia, plenty to share........

Hello, I am a new suscriber, currently looking into that branch of my wifes line called SCOTT who emigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada. Unfortunately we don't know what particular area of the Province. Joseph and Leonard SCOTT were twin brothers born abt 1878 in Maryport, Cumberland, England. However the family also had connections with the Town of Middlesbrough which was in Yorkshire. Their parents were Joseph and Betsy Scott who in 1881 (UK Census) were resident just outside Carlisle, Cumberland, ENG at a small village called Blackwell Low. Age of Joseph and Betsy per the Census were 37 and 33 respectively. Other members of the family and ages were as follows. Isaac age 7 John Edward age 6 Wilkinson age 1 Presumably the twin brothers emigrated together and probably as young men. Other than that, little else is known. A story in the family has it that at sometime in the 1950's a newspaper article lauded them as "the oldest living twins in Sasketchewan". Not a lot to go on I admit.
