Mary, Have you tried the 1901 Census for Ontario. I found my relatives birth dates on it. Mine were from Scotland and lived in Grey County, Ontario. I hope this helps. One of my grandmother's brother lived in Wiarton, Bruce County, Ontario in 1916. He served with the Bruce Regiment in WW1. His military papers are the source of this information. The is a website for Bruce County that can help you with some information on the history of the people.
