Sorry List, I got click happy on first message!! Has anyone ever heard of the "Isle of Gladstone"? in Scotland or in Canada? My ancestor, William MACPHERSON and wife Mathilda LEDUC MacPherson are said to have hailed from the Isle of Gladstone. I have never been able to locate such a place. If anyone has any suggestions as to a similar location or 'sounds like' place, I'm grasping at straws. I can not find anything out about this family in Quebec from ca. 1830 to probably at least 1900 in the St. Timothee or Valleyfield area. It was a large family with allied family names of MONTPETIT, LABERGE, PERRON, and DAIGNAULT. I know very little about the Scots' settlement in Canada. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I don't know how helpful this is, but there is a town of Gladstone in Manitoba.
