Greetings All. We are receiving questions relating to where to send Census petitions when they are completed. On the Post 1901 Census Project website, on the same page from which petitions are downloaded there is a link to Instructions for Petitions. These instruction give information regarding how to handle the petitions, INCLUDING where to mail them when completed. These instructions are also downloadable. Sorry for any confusion regarding the Instructions being separate, but with the last petitions we had some picky government scrutinizers who voided some petitions when the instructions had been double-sided with one of the signature sheets. We felt this would be avoided by keeping the Instructions separate. I guess I will have to make the link to the instructions larger and more noticeable. To answer another question we have received -- Please DO NOT WAIT UNTIL AFTER the expected federal election to start gathering signatures. It takes time to collect signatures. Petitions we receive beforehand will be held for presentation until AFTER the election but we would like to have a large number of signatures for presentation IMMEDIATELY Parliament resumes sitting with the new government. If we wait until after the election to start collecting signatures there will be delays before a reasonable number of signatures can be presented.
