    2. Dear Malcolm, The 1871 Ontario census has Adam McLean, age 45, born in Scotland, Occu. F, Rel. FK, Aldborough Tnshp, Elgin Co. This census has heads of HH. only. (on line, at least ) The automated 1901 census for Aldborough is not yet complete. There are a couple of older John McLeans which brings up the possibility that Adam had a brother John & hence named his son John. The originals of the 1901 census are online so you could search the whole township although it would take time.
