    1. Re: [SCTCDN] Robert William Beattie
    2. Dear Lorraine, As I have had family in Toronto by the same time Robert was there I have taken your query as an opportune time to do a little checking. The best site I found was www.historyoftoronto.ca It has several pages of pictures of buildings in Toronto some of which would have been familiar to Robert. This includes a picture of the "old" city hall. Under links there are many other good sources to investigate. Another good general source to learn about Canada is olivetreegenealogy.com It occurred to me that perhaps Robert had to register for WW One. This site has information on Canadian Military but only lists the casualties. There is also a section on passenger ships to Canada. There is not too much available yet for the 20th century, but lists are steadily being added by the Ships Transcribers Guild. Hope you enjoy this as a start.
