Good evening from England, Have recently joined this list in the hope of tracing some family in Canada. I am very happy to share my research with anyone who may be interested. I have a Joseph Andrew Waddell Taylor who hailed from Galashiels in Selkirkshire, Scotland born in 1883. He was in Edinburgh and surrounds in 1916 when he may have emigrated to Canada with his brother James Morris Waddell Taylor who was born in 1876 in Stow in Midlothian, Scotland. Their mother was Jessie Waddell, her parents were Andrew Waddell and Alison Howieson. Joseph was back in Edinburgh by 1921 and subsequently died there in 1947. But I can find no trace of James in Scotland after the 1901 census. Family lore has it that Joseph did go to Canada for a period of time and it makes me wonder if that was were James disappeared to as well. Has anyone heard of these two Scotsmen?
