    3. Hello: Just new to the list and have seen very few letters. I am trying to find information on a James McRAE family that came from Aberdeen at some time. There is some confusion over the son, James Alexander McRAE's birthplace (born 1880 ><) We believe we saw a birth certificate showing place of birth as Winnipeg but he always insisted he was born in Aberdeen and Aberdeen is stated on his marriage certificate, also his father's name as James. Have been on an Aberdeen list and tried several search groups but no sign of James McRae there. Have tried several Manitoba lists but no luck - he came to BC at a young age (early 1900's) and at a time when communication was not easy - he had trouble writing. He may have had a sister Mary and he told someone his mother's name was Kirsty or similar but shown as "unknown" on marriage certificate. Any leads for searching in the Red River Settlement area would be appreciated. Helene

    3. Hi Helene: There is a website called Scotland's People where you can, for a fee, find birth records. I do not have the url handy, but if no-one else comes up with it, email me and I will look for it.
