Dear Malcolm, The 1871 census is on line for hh. It shows Henry age 50, b. Ont., English, Hotelkeeper, Kent Co. Howard Twnship. There is also an Alexander Marsh b. in 1820 living in Howard. Could be a brother of Satira & a way to learn more about her family. Satira, Josephine & etc are in the 1881 census but the county seemed to have a different name? Did you note Sarah Marsh in the home? That could be Satira's mother ? I have been helping with the automated 1901 census. Charles and Sarah Lake are there with 3 children. I noted Albert Dodge was a witness for the Lake wedding, so he could not have died as a young child. The wedding you do not have is: Stanley Mills, merchant, Hamilton, s/o Nelson & Cynthia m. Helen Victoria Dodge d/o Henry & Katina? 11 Oct 1888, Ridgetown. Witness: Mrs H Dodge Helen & Ellen are apparently the same person? They had a terrible time with the name Satira didn't they. It doesn't seem to be spelled correctly once ! I would do some more checking on the 1901 census & perhaps check on what LDS census films are available. I do not have any ideas as to finding Henry's parents.
