Lake Matheson was once called Black Bear Lake. The name Lake Matheson is for Daniel Matheson grandson of Barbara Sutherland and John Matheson son of Hugh Matheson. Daniel was apparently a "very colorful person who traded with the Indians and was a fisherman on this Island. I am looking for Barbara his grandmother. Her husband died in 1866 in Ontario and she disappears from the Church records in May 1870. Would you know how I could have someone search the 1871 Census for Manitoba? Barbara may have been with one of her sons at Pine Dock. Thanks so much for your reply.
