    3. Thanks Sheila: I've tried the Vital Statistics and the census but no luck. Have tried some pages of the census but he would have been 21 or older so he would have headed west by that time. B.C., where he ended up, isn't on line as yet. I do appreciate your reply. I'm sure we saw a birth certificate with Winnipeg but that was 40 some years ago and it must have been left with the lawyer re the estate. We were too busy raising our family and making a living to ask the questions we should have. 3. Hello Helene - You mentioned James McRae moved to B.C. We have BMD online at www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca. I had a quick look and there is a James Alexander McRae who would have been born about 1880. He died in 1961 in Terrace and that is where I am writing from. We know some of the McRae family here so if this turns out to be of some interest and I can help at all, please let me know. Pat.

    3. Hi Helene What I have found is that not every one is on Vital Statistic. Both my grandfathers are born in Manitoba around the same time and only one is on. Other member of the family are one though. My husband's father is listed under his baptismal name rather then his first name. If he owned land you could try the Western Canadian Land Grants at the Canada Archive site. The 1901 B.C. census are there.
