This caught my attention, as when I first began to do research on my family...I, like may novices, only looked for the correct spelling. How frustrated I became. Then a very sweet person from a list explained to me that , in the U.S. at least, Children learned how to spell their name from their Teachers many times....who spelled it how she or he THOUGHT it SHOULD be spelled. In my Case, I research BUSSELL and have found my own relatives in Census and other documents under BUSTLE, BUESELL, BUSSELLE, and other spellings. I have found my GLOVERS with the Spelling of GLAUER due to , perhaps, poor writing or olde English spellings?
