My 3rd g-grandparents, Niel MUNRO (1774-1835) & Agnes/Ann MCPHERSON (abt 1785-1855), came from Argyll to Elgin Co, Ontario in about 1827 with 7 sons: John, Donald/Daniel, Neil, Duncan, Colin, Archibald & Dugald. Daughter Mary was born after arrival. I have a lot of information I am willing to share. I'm least sure about John & Donald/Daniel. Colin was Sheriff of Elgin Co for many years. Their son Duncan MUNRO (1811-1899) is my 2nd g-grandfather & married Catherine MCCOWAN (1816-1866). Her parents were Capt. Hugh MCCOWAN (1787-1863) & Isabelle GRAHAM (1789-1876) who also came to Elgin Co. from Argyll in about 1820. Duncan & Catherine had Neil, Nancy, Hugh, Duncan, Colin, Margaret, Alexander, Archibald, Daniel, Isabel & John. Their son Hugh Cowan MUNRO (1840-1909) is my g-grandfather & married Nancy/Agnes CAMPBELL (1848-1932), daughter of Neil CAMPBELL (d aft 1850?) & Betsy MCINTYRE (1826-1867). Betsty/Elizabeth's parents were Duncan MCINTYRE (abt 1780-1870) & Sarah MCPHERSON (1789-1865). I don't know much about Neil CAMPBELL, my 2nd g-grandfather. He apparently died young and Betsy remarried to a John MCKILLOP (d 1888). All of these families came from Argyll, Scotland--primarily Parish of Kilninver & Kilmelford, some from Parish of Craignish. I have collected a lot of information--have recently been going over microfilms of Parish birth & marriage records & piecing together family in Scotland. I'd be delighted to correspond with anyone connected to these Argyll-Elgin Co. lines and willing to share all my information. D. Lou Ritter, Kalamazoo, MI

My great grandfather brings me to my search in Canada. I don't have a lot of information yet but Joseph L. Elliott was born in July 1863 probably in Quebec as his mother tongue was French. From what I've been able to determine thus far his father was from Scotland with a mother tongue of English and his mother was Canadian with a mother tongue of French also. He is reported to have immigrated at about age 17 to Wisconsin, USA. I don't know at this time if he immigrated with anyone or on his own. I currently looking for access to the books "French-Canadian Families of the North Central States" as he is probably listed in the book. I also have someone searching for his obituary in Wisconsin as I am doing research from New Mexico. I do have further information about his wife, family, etc. but am still searching for his birth information and parents information. Interested to find a Barclay that (1) could have come to Nova Scotia about 1780ies. Married a Holesworth. OR (2) could have come ca. 1840s. Apparently there was a Barclay in Pictou area who later moved to Stewiacke. This is the one. I have the tree after Stewiacke, but not before. Still searching for information on my Ballantynes. John and Hannah lived in Montreal in the 1870's. Their daughter Jennette born there in 1872. Hannah died 12-23-1874, buried in Mount Royal Cemetery. John was from Glasgow. In the 1900 Ohio census, Jennette lists both parents as being Scottish, so I would love to know Hannah's maiden name or any information I can get. Hannah was born in 1851, John 1845-1850, I need major help here!!!!! Thank you, Shari
