    1. [SCTCDN] LAMPORT HART lookup - THANK YOU
    2. Hello Sherry. Thank you so much for your time and effort doing those lookups for me. The LAMPORT line you found is one I have been looking at for awhile. It is good to have all the information on this line as I feel that that those LAMPORTS are mine....but am having trouble substantiating that they are. You see, the Edward J and Joseph Samuel are the right names and birth order for my family....I have found them also in the 1880 U. S. Census in Ionia, Michigan....They are the right names and birth order....but about five years older than the ones I am looking for......my information comes from my Joseph Samuel's death certificate.....and the U. S. Census records I have found where I knew where they were at...and when.....Many say that with the right names and the right birth order...that these must be mine.....but am still looking for primary sources to substantiate... John Harts is a tough one.....a very common name......Mine was either born in Nova Scotia (his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Hart, born in 1862, Michigan had that on her death certificate).....or Canada West (Sarah's entry on the 1920 U. S. Census for father's birthplace, Scottish mother tongue). By 1881, even if Sarah was in Canada then, she would be under the LAMPORT surname (she was married to and Edward Lamport)....or possibly KERR (in the 1920 U. S. CEnsus, she had remarried a John A. Kerr.....another common name ! ). Anyway......again I thank you for your help, Sherry. If there is any lookup on the 1880 U. S. Census you need, I will gladly look them up for you. Kathryn

    3. Greetings Beverley, I am interested in the Weirs. I am descended from David Weir who came from Kildrummy, SCT (his brother William also came) and settled in Ontario (Woodstock area). Any connection to the Weirs in your book? If so, I would love a copy. Rachael Sim's mother was Susanna Stewart born: October 01, 1821, Glasgow and died June 18, 1896, in Milverton, Ontario. Susanna married Peter Sim in 1849. 3. Good morning to you David: I am intrigued with your message which I just found on pioneer families from Scotland. I, too, am descended from the Stewart family which came to Canada from the Perthshire area about the 1833-34. My ancestors were Duncan Stewart born about 1811 in the st. Fillans area, his wife Margaret Drummond possibly born in Comrie, they had a small daughter, Catharine, who came iwth them from Scotland. Also Duncan had a brother Peter and his wife who also came to Canada at the same time. I am not acquainted with the exact time or the ship they travelled on, I just have that they came in 1833 or began their trip in 1833 and possibly arrived in 1834. they moved westward to the Toronto area, and ended up settling around Ancaster across the street from about Dundurn Castle. They built a home there and were great friends of Sir Allan McNab. Later they moved westward to Elgin county, I do not know what year. They purchased a farm in Bayham Twp, Elgin County, Ontario, and my cousin is still residing on the farm that Duncan and Margaret lived on. Peter and wife remained in the Hamilton, Ancaster area, and I also wish to contact descendants of Peter and his wife. They had this baby Catharine when they arrived, I have found all descendants of her life, my grandfather, John Stewart was her youngest male sibling born in Ancaster area, but he married and farmed in Bayham township, Elgin County. Part of the family members born to Duncan and Margaret Stewart lived in Toronto, most of their life, with a descendant becoming the Mayor of Toronto, in the 1930's and also becoming the Speaker of the House in the 1940's in Legeislature. I have found a family connection of this family, but there were more siblings in this large family and I am interested in finding their descendants. All known descendants I would be interested in meeting. Norma C. Smith David M Paterson wrote: > Hullo Beverley. 3. Hoping these links will work properly. Anyone with Campbell connections in Quebec and Ontario please look at these three photos and see if there is any resemblance to the Campbell men in your family. The first photo in John A. Campbell born 1858 in Quebec (son of William Campbell (1828) from Scotland and Elizabeth Smith (1828) of England), the second photo is his son John Wellman Campbell born Thurso, Quebec, Canada, April 2, 1894 and the third photo is of his son, Colin William Campbell born Cochrane, Ontario, Canada May 6, 1922. Colin was my dad's brother who died in 1976 in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Canada. Anyway, hopefully the links work. Please contact me if you think someone is familiar. 3. I found a portion of an obituary from December 1956 from a newspaper in Boston, Ma. The part I have reads: Mrs. Jennie C. (MacDonald) Chisholm, 96 Selwyn Street, Roslindale, died late Christmas night. A native of Nova Scotia, Canada, she came to Roslindale shortly after her marriage 30 years ago. She was a member of the Roslindale Baptist Church for 30 years and had been active in the church --- the rest is torn No relation to me. Just passing this on.

    3. Sherry, This is a long shot on my part, but when you saw N.N. Mills Quebec, was it written that way Quebec in full not the abbreviation for Quebec. My line of thinking is perhaps it was the initials of a person who is a lawyer, N.N. Mills QC.......Queens Counsellor....... Just a thought. 3. I have just obtained a copy of marriage certificate for my great grandfather Richard Hendry who was married in Greenock, Renfrew. I learned that his father's name was Nathaniel Hendry. I am still trying to find out where in Scotland Richard was born. I know the year was about 1838. It has been suggested to me that neither Richard or Nathaniel are common scottish forenames and that perhaps they were born in Ireland and emigrated to Scotland. Can anyone comment on this, are these names very uncommon for Scottish forenames? Do you think I should be looking at Ireland for Richard's birth place? Regards, Nina Hart, Langley, B.C. Canda
