Hi Louise, You must be bombarded with requests for a look-up and here I am also asking for help. I am looking for the Spears family. Many thanks, Marie Spears > >
Hi Listers... I want to thank those of you who are concerned about me using my time to do lookups in the "Dictionary". However, I do only have the one book to look in. I believe there are others, and they should be found in larger libraries. There were so many people who were so kind to me when I first started researching--especially those in Canada. This is the way I like to repay them. Who knows, I might have the clue that would open up research for someone. There haven't been more requests than I can handle--at least yet>g<! Louise
Hi Sally... Where are you? US or Canada? Louise
Thank you for taking the time to do that Louise..... it is appreciated..... I do appologize for the flood of queries you got.... lol. For all you people who inundated poor Louise with requests for lookup from this book, are you aware that you can get the volumes on interlibrary loan and look the information up yourselves and therefore free Louise to look up her own roots. Just an observance. Yes, I am sure Louise doesn't mind looking up one set of information but don't your think it is a little selfish to expect her to look up everyone's.

Hello Louise, I am wondering if you would be able to do a look-up for others as well?? I am looking for the surname Grub(b) in Quebec (is this specific enough?). Looking forward to hearing from you and thank you if you can help. Best regards, Kathleen --- LHawthorne@aol.com wrote: > Sherry... > I have "A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada > Before Confederation", > Whyte, 1986. > Could I help you? > Louise ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca
Hi Louise, I saw your letter to Sherry and wondered if you might be able to look up my gg grandparents for me. My g grandmother, Mary Jane Crawford was born in Campbellton, NB in 1858. Her parents came over from Scotland but I only know it was before her birth. Because there were 11 children I don't know how many were born in Canada. Her parents names were; James A. Crawford Ellen E. Glover- Thank you for any help you are able to give me. Sally
Sherry... Let me check in my book, and I'll get back to you--hopefully, today. Louise
Louise, Thankyou very much for answering..... I'm getting desperate. I'm looking for a William Campbell who was born about 1828 in Scotland. There are three periods of time that I think he would have come to Canada (Lochaber Quebec) and this is the information of the families he would have come over with. "In 1832, Alexander McCallum, aged 73, and his wife Catherine (McGillvray), aged 63, and their sons John, aged 31, Duncan, and Malcom, together with their wives and their children, and including the three grandchildren, Hector and Flora McLean, and Archibald Campbell, set out to join Janet and Donald McLean and Catherine Ann and Neil Campbell, their daughters who had proceeded them to the "New Land". After a long voyage in a sailing vessel they arrived safely in Canada and located at Locaber, on the Ottawa River, Province of Quebec. That information came from a McCallum descendant. My William Campbell, I believe, either came over as a baby in 1828 with Neil, Donald and James Campbell or in 1830 with Donald McLean and Janet McCallum and other's or at the time mentioned above "1832". All of these people are researching McCallum so wouldn't have checked for another Campbell child arriving. I am almost 100% sure that William was James Campbell's son. Anyway, would really appreciate it if you would look for him in the "Dictionary". Thank you, Sherry (Campbell) Tripp ----- Original Message ----- From: LHawthorne@aol.com To: SCOTS-IN-CANADA-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 10:50 AM Subject: Re: [SCTCDN] Dictionary of Scottish Emmigrants to Canada?? Does anyone have volume 1, 2 and 3 of "A Dictionary of Scottish Emmigrants to Canada before Confederation" by Donald Whyte for the Ontario Genealogical Society"? Would really appreciate a look-up if anyone has them. Thanks Sherry (Campbell) Tripp
