Hi, Still looking for the roots of James Hunter b. 1810, ?, Scotland and Maria Wilson, born 1819, Edinburgh. They were married in Ayr 1841 and immigrated to Canada between 1848 and 1850 with the first 3 of thier 9 children. Cannot find them on any passenger lists. Have no idea of their parents or siblings. Maria Wilson Hunter's obit says her father was the first man to set up type in Ayr and have had no luck researching from that angle. There are a large number of James Hunters born 1810!!! Have looked at the parish register and the proclamation of marriage banns gives no indication of parents, siblings, etc. Also looking for one of their sons, Andrew Hunter, born 1845, Kilwinning, Ayrshire. Andrew received a Western Land Grant and homesteaded in the Stony Mountain, Manitoba area sometime before 1885. Andrew, wife Annie ? (born Germany, 1854) and children Robert, Maggie, Walter and Thomas all appear on the 1901 census for the Selkirk District, Rockwood Municipality of Manitoba. Cannot find Andrew's marriage on the Ontario registrations so believe he was married in MB. Thanks for any help! Judy Buller
Hi Patti: I notice on the roll call of Surnames that you have SCOTT of Roxburghshire. I do not have SCOTT as a Roxburgh direct line but a couple of SCOTT connections that are related to me - from Newcastleton in Castleton Parish, Roxburghshire in the period you mention. Where did your SCOTT come from in Roxburghshire ? Look forward to your reply. Greetings All. Thanks to new Canada Census Committe member for Ontario, Sharleine Haycock, there is one less Red X on the Scoreboard for Members of Parliament. A letter received from MP Carolyn Parrish in response to one from Sharleine has taken Ms. Parrish from a position of opposition to one of sitting on the fence. Ms. Parrish's assistant advised that while she does not intend to be an advocate for access to Historic Census records she will approach any vote on the issue with an open mind. Scoreboard Totals currently stand at Members of Parliament For 161 Against 4 Non-committal 60 No answer 74 Senators For 34 Against 3 Non-committal 18 No answer 42 Happy Hunting. Gordon A. I am looking for all McNAIRN, MCNARIN, MCNAIRINE, and many other variations of the surname. Connecting with McNAIRN (and variation) families are the Jane McNEILL who was born in Scotland and died July 25, 1877 in Galloway, New Brunswick. Also there is connection of a family of STILLWELL - that may have originated in Scotland. The main McNAIRN connections I am looking at presently are: Anthony MCNAIRN/MCNARIN who married Jane MCNEILL and Anthony's brother William MCNAIRN/MCNARIN - William and Anthony came to New Brunswick in about 1817. They settled and died there - I have no descendants as yet for William but do have quite a few for Anthony. Also I am looking for a family of McNAIRNs that settled in Mitchell, Ontario. There was John MCNAIRN who emigrated from Scotland somewhere between 1862 and 1869 and married a girl named Mary Jane who emigrated between 1871 and 1876. Mitchell is located in Perth County, Ontario. There is also a Johnson or Johnston MCNAIRN who immigrated to Dundas County, Ontario somewhere around 1848 or 1849 - this Johnson/Johnston married a woman named Margaret - Johnson/Johnston McNAIRN may have been actually born in Scotland - but from my research - I believe probably originated in Scotland. Judi McNairn (and Cheryl Grice) looking for all McNairns, Scotland, Ontario and beyond

I have a grandfather, Hugh Prentice, born March 6, 1871, in Matapedia, Ristogouche, Quebec, to a Hugh Prentice and an Isabel/Isabella Irvine/Irving (don't know for sure which combination of her name is the correct one). I'm having trouble finding a birth record for grandpa Hugh or what siblings he may have had, if any. There are a couple of other Hugh and Isabella's that others have identified--a Hugh born in 1810 and one born in 1820--but neither seem to have a son Hugh born in 1871. Some of the family moved to Wisconsin and then out to Washington State. Can anyone help me connect to my ggrandfather and beyond? He may have lived in Nova Scotia, PEI, or Scotland. Thanks, Hugh Neil (Prentice) Bergeson hnbergeson@attbi.com

AMELIA HANGEL AND MURDOCK ROSS born around 1820. These sneaky ancestors above left no clues to their family after leaving Scotland. Supposedly my grandfather Andrew Ross was born in Lunenburg in 1852. I find him in the 1901 census for Halifax with his family. Need help. Can not find Murdock and wife before 1901.
