    3. I live in Guelph Ontario, Wellington County which was settled by a lot of Scots as well....I am more than willing to do as Judi, go out and take cemetery photos if folks want. Also am pretty handy to Perth County, so would be willing to go there as well. One problem though coming up soon though is weather, some of the older cemeteries are no longer in use and can't be accessed in winter, if we have snow, let me know though if any of you are interested....and will see what can be done. 3. As I mentioned earlier I will be quite happy to take some photos for people - but I would like to suggest that people get a clear idea if they aren't sure what cemetery their ancestor is buried in. I had a request for New Market cemetery and I have no idea where that is - and when I looked on the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid for Bruce County I can't find a cemetery by that name in Bruce County. An excellent link to check out your ancestors is the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid at http://www.islandnet.com/ocfa/ . Also from my own site I have several Bruce County, Ontario and Canadian Links at http://jamcnairn.com/genlinks.htm Judi McNairn

    3. Jan, thanks for posting. I think there may be more than one answer to your question of ethics. in such a situation, I ask myself one question - "Is the information 'public information/knowledge'?" If it is, then placing it on the 'net' can hardly be wrong - IMHO. David. 3. Posting my names: The surnames I'm looking for in Canada are RATCLIFFE and WINN. James RATCLIFFE emigrated from Scotland to Canada probably in the 1920's and Arthur WINN emigrated from USA to Canada about 1920. James lived in the Montreal area and Arthur in Le Pas, Manitoba. Unfortunately this is all I know since the records are not available for this time frame - they are sealed because of privacy :-(. 3. Janet, I have found definitely some people don't want info on the net - others don't mind - I make sure I have permission myself but other than that - if a person is dead - then I will put the name and info on the web - if the person is still alive - I simply use the term "living" ie Living McNairn etc - and no birthdate or residence or anything. Peter HENDERSON (born 1861, died 1917) wife Joan HILL (HILLOCK) (born 1863, died 1936) (According to the British 1881 Census Peter's grandmother, last name unknown, was born in Ireland and Joan's father, David HILLOCK was also born in Ireland. Joan used HILL as her maiden name on records in Canada) Their children: Mary Wallace Henderson married William ORR Jessie Henderson Anne Henderson Georgia Henderson Violet Henderson James Henderson Peter Henderson Robert Henderson Jeanne Henderson Helen Henderson John Henderson Now an ethical question. I do have a bit more information on the children, but as their descendants might not want personal info on the 'net (and be upset with me if I put it there) where should you draw the line for perhaps finding your second and third cousins and invading their privacy? Appreciate any help. Thank you. Jan

    3. Just thought I would let people know that I have just recently acquired a digital camera - and will be taking photographs at the various cemeteries around me - I will over the course of time be creating a website for posting of these. If anyone has a particular stone they would like a photo of or anything like that please let me know. I will do my best to help out. I live in the southern area of Bruce County - in Paisley. Bruce County had been settled in the 1800's by many Scots so I thought this would be a good list to offer this on. Judi McNairn

    3. I, with my cousin Cheryl Grice, am researching all MCNAIRNs, MCNARINs, and any other variation - we have found quite a few variations in old census records for sure. We have a John MCNAIRN b. 1745 who came to Ontario (1778) from Scotland via the US (1773) We also have two brothers who came to New Brunswick from Scotland in 1817 William and Anthony. Another John McNAIRN born 1845 in Scotland came to Mitchell, Ontario in 1869 I believe. There are more families we have a website at http://jamcnairn.com/mcnairn
