Does anyone know why on Upper Canada we are only allowed to post Loyalists, Service men or People of German Descent. I posted McIntosh service men who came to live there and it was never posted. Upper Canada was sold by the native people to the govt in 1818 but was not surveyed until 1854 by George McPhillips. The new rule is you cant post any info from after 1867 which the McIntosh's were from the 34th regiment of the Kings royal Regiment of New York, the Loyal Rangers, major jess butlers rangers etc.who settled in the eastern part of upper Canada Among the ones I listed which were with signed doc. by Judge jf Pringle, Judge county Court published in 1890, doc. of upper Canada Benjamin Mcintosh 34th reg. Lauchlan Mcintosh 84th reg. Peter Mcintosh rrny Daniel Mcintosh rrny I also listed Peter Mcintosh who was the father of john and tom who were already living there prior to and none was posted. Would someone kindly explain why, or is there another site for upper canada that i am missing. Who is the head administrator of Rootsweb. maggie mpeters@xcelco.on.ca
Sometime ago I purchased records from a genealogists estate in Scotland. Among them were the Perthshire Scotland Marriages from 1687-1809. If you would like me to do a look up for you, WRITE TO ME AT THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS, in order not to clog up the Scots in Canada rootsweb site. my address is mpeters@xcelco.on.ca
Gooday from Brisbane, I am looking for the name ALEXANDER THOMAS MILTON born in Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland on 12 February 1900 and he died on 15 July 1955 in Vancouver. He went to Canada somewhere in the 1920's with his wife Christina FINDLAY and there were two children, Elizabeth (Betty) born in October 1924 (I think in Scotland) and Dudley born in 1933 but apparently in Canada. I think Betty married a Wally MEYERS who had something to do with basketball, but that's all I know. If anyone can connect me with this line, please do. Anything is appreciated. Cheers, Margaret

To ALL Members of Scots in Canada, DIGEST & LIST MODE I have had some negative feedback from all the messages that are being generated by Maggie Peters offers of lists for research purposes. What she is offering is lists for Canada, Scotland, and USA for research purposes, while I think any help we get is very worthwhile, I am going to have to ask that if you want these lists you will have to contact Maggie off list, as she originally requested that you do. I did give Maggie my permission to post these types of posts, but in light of a day of negative private messages to myself, and a lot of members not wanting this type of mail, I am going to have to ask that this practice please stop, if the lists are wanted please contact Maggie at her address which is: mpeters@excelco.on.ca I mean to offend no one, I just want everyone to adhere to a basic principle, contact Maggie off list. Once you receive your daily lists, the best way to thank Maggie is to thank her privately as well, if you feel you want to say thanks for her efforts. Regards Christine List Administrator

Hello listers, To let you know that the book "Morvern, Reminiscences of a Highland Parish" by Norman MacLeod published first in 1867 and now reviewed and edited to update information by Iain Thornber is available in North America from Interlinkbooks in Maine <www.interlinkbooks.com> and can be ordered through the following address: sales@interlinkbooks.com. Price is $23.95 US plus $3.95 US for mailing. A great read for anyone searching in Argyll. The book includes the Morvern 1841 census, the 1779 census and a list of officers in Mull and Morvern. A fascinating read, with lots of notes!! Adel McKay (of Morvern stock).
Maggie, Could you possibly send the list to all of us? Thanks a bunch. Marie
