Hi List, Does anyone know about the origans of Scottish names? I am researching the name Huntly/Huntley and I found a Marquis of Huntly who fought in the English civil war in 1644 along with his sons some of which were on the opposit side. His name was George Gordan and the Clan was the Gordans. They were from the Highlands up between Aberdeen and Elgin. They are known for their military exploits. Would any of the decendants of the Marquis of Huntly take the name Huntly or would they all be Gordans? Would the people from the 13th, 14th century in the Gordans' territory take the name Huntly? Does anyone know the origan of the name Huntly? Thanks for any help. Joan
