    1. [SCT~ROOTS] GARD(I)NER, Adam--SCT>NY>PA>OH--mid-1700s
    2. Seeking info on Adam Gard(i)ner who is said to have emigrated to America from Greenock, Scotland, in Dec 1774 on the ship "James", arriving in America in February 1774. After marrying Hel(l)en Mitchell, they resided in Tinnerwich, near Flushing, Long Island. The Albany County (NY) census of 1790 shows Adam, Helen, a son of 16, two sons under 16 , and two daughters. Shortly thereafter, they relocated from NY to Washington County, PA, and from there to Adams Co., OH, about 1800. He was killed by Indians in 1801 on a return trip to PA before the birth of his youngest son. Adam's father is thought to have been named John. Any help with Adam, his family, and ancestry would be most appreciated. I have some info on his children which I would be happy to share with anyone connected to this line. Thanks, Bob.
