    1. [SCT~ROOTS] McQueen family
    2. Denis Pye
    3. Hello list I am in need of help to find my great grandfather Peter McQUEEN. He was born in Scotland c 1845 - probably on the west coast, possibly near Glasgow. His father was Hugh McQUEEN a wool merchant and Peter himself was variously: Plasterer Master plasterer Modeller He married Esther Sarah POTTER in London 1868 and had 4 daughters the last of which, Laveniana (Katey) McQUEEN was born in Rothesay 1877. The other daughters were born in London (St Saviour). Also looking for Abraham WALTON also born in Scotland c 1820s He married a Cordelia Ann? I have been unable to trace the birth of either Peter or his father and would appreciate any help. I have a photo of Peter taken in Glasgow c1860 so think he may come from that area. Peter emigrated to USA after 1877 and as far as we know did not return. Thanks Linda Pye Lancashire

    1. [SCT~ROOTS] Fairbeard
    2. Karen Spencer
    3. Hello to all listers, I am looking for information on a family. William Henry Fairbeard who was born in Kent England around 1863. He came to Scotland and married an Agnes Stark Young in 1886. They lived in Gorbals, Glasgow. In 1888 they had Julius. They were present on the 1891 census and Agnes and Julius were present on the 1901 census. According to records found on Scots Origin Agnes was remarrying a John Mann in 1901. Therefore I am assuming that William Fairbeard died sometime between 1891 and 1901. I am looking to find a record of his death. It does not show up on Scots Origin. Where else could I look? Does anyone have access to monumental inscriptions for cemeteries in that area that could do a lookup for me? Thanks so much in advance..... Karen Canada

    1. [SCT~ROOTS] Goldie/Boath
    2. James Forbes CRUICKSHANK was born in 1850 in Dundee, Scotland. He died on 29 Sep 1912 in Newport, RI. He was married to Elizabeth GOLDIE (daughter of David GOLDIE and Mary Ann BOATH) on 31 Dec 1872 in Dundee, Scotland (a). James and Betsy (as she was known) had 13 children. Elizabeth GOLDIE was born in 1850 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. Betsy's parents were fisherman; her and her twin sibling were born on a boat. She died around 1918. James Forbes CRUICKSHANK and Elizabeth GOLDIE had the following children: +11 i. David CRUICKSHANK. +12 ii. John CRUICKSHANK. 13 iii. (Brother) CRUICKSHANK. 14 iv. Robert CRUICKSHANK. 15 v. James CRUICKSHANK. +16 vi. Joanne CRUICKSHANK. +17 vii. Mary Ann CRUICKSHANK. 18 viii. Elizabeth CRUICKSHANK. +19 ix. Jemima CRUICKSHANK. +20 x. George Forbes CRUICKSHANK. (a) Source: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ancestral File (R). Copyright (c) 1987, June 1998, data as of 5 January 1998. M112821 1855-1875 6035516 REGISTER. The marriage was definite since it mentioned James Forbes CRUICKSHANK; it was under the name Betsy Goldie. There was also the same name for the birth in the same town, so the assumption is that the names of David GOLDIE and Mary Ann BOATH is correct. I'm having problems using Familysearch.com to trace back further since GOLDIE and BOATH seem to have many entries with same names and places, but different dates, and I'm not sure which ones are the correct ones for me. Hoping to find someone with family history. Pete

    3. Hi I am researching CREASEY, GLADSTONE, MACKENZIE and McCRORIE. I wondered whether in Scotland there are the local Registration Offices and if so can copies of birth marriage and death certs be obtained from there? If so can you point me in the right direction to find out the addresses and the costs of the certificates. If not, where do I need to obtain any from? Apologies, but I am fairly new to genealogy but am learning by the day. Regards Joanne
