    3. Denise, I get seeing your messages concerning Hector URQUHART. My immigrant ancestor, NORMAN URQUHART and his brother, Henry, arrived in North Carolina, USA in 1774. We would be so pleased if we could make a connection make to Scotland. We are not sure of a location other than maybe...Isle of Skye. We don't know where to begin our search. ! ! ! Family names include: Norman, Henry, Alexander, John, Neill, Daniel. Any suggestions? 3. I have uploaded a new web site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~maggiesirishkin/ The "maggiesirishkin" is turning out to be a misnomer. Most of the details concern the Innes family of Marnoch and the Hewetson family of Penpont, Dumfries. There are many names on both these sites and an interesting abstract about the covenanting activies of the Hewetson family. If you can add anything and or if I may be able to help you in your research, please make contact. I am shortly uploading miscellaneous references to the Hewetson name and 1851 Census material on that family. Cheers, MAGGIE

    3. Hi all Just picking up on the mention of Covenanters. Plenty about them on my web site at www.btinternet.com/~b.orr/ Also my book "As God is my Witness - the Presbyterian Kirk, the Covenanters and the Ulster Scots" (to give it its full title) is now available from Heritage Books Inc - secure web site at www.heritageboks.com . Over a thousand Covenanters and their fate named, and several hundred Ulster Scots families and ministers in the Ulster Plantation ( 1610-1630 ) and subsequently. Enjoy :) Brian Orr b.orr@btopenworld.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maggie and Adrian" <tuathadedaan@xtra.co.nz> To: <SCOTLAND-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2002 7:39 AM Subject: Re: [SCT~ROOTS] URQUHART / REID > I have uploaded a new web site > > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~maggiesirishkin/ > > The "maggiesirishkin" is turning out to be a misnomer. 3. Hi, thanks for replying so quickly. My Carswells arrived in about 1818 to Ontario Canada. Shortly after their arrival the name changed in some to Cerswell, this is the last name of my line now. I am a direct decent of the Cerswell/Carswell from this area. They are still living in the homes, although up to date that were built in the few years after their arrival. I believe that some of the Carswells must have been earlier from Renfrew, then after a battle Donegal Ireland. The early papers they are said to have left for the new world from Donegal. As for the McKnight's, this is new to me. My Ggrandmother was daughter of William Speers b. 1818 and Sarah McKnight 1827 both out of County Down Ireland according to their obits. I have yet to look them up on my 1881 Census CD, that is the McKnight's, but will do so shortly. 3. The Protestants in Ireland were referred to as the "Orangemen". I think it had to do with William of Orange who I believe was the William of William & Mary, rulers of England. So I would assume the "Orange" part of Ireland would be the English/Protestant part of Ireland. Part of the basis for all the centuries of "troubles" there. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Genie91954@wmconnect.com> To: <SCOTLAND-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 06, 2002 3:05 PM Subject: [SCT~ROOTS] RE; Orange County in Northern Ireland > OK OK from all the emails I take it there is no Orange County in Northern > Ireland. > > Finally heard from the source that sent me his information, my uncle who was > raised and adopted by his grandmother, Daisy Mae McGlaughlin maiden name > BROWN > aka McCOLLUM/McCALLUM > aka SMITH. 3. Hello, Can anyone help with tracing desendants of Thomas Moorhouse & Isabella Whitten who married in Gorey, Ireland in 1910. Their 4th child Isabella Francis Jane was registered in 1923 at Possilpark, Glasgow. There were 3 older, Kathleen Mary b abt 1912, Robert William b abt 1913 and Thomas Whitten b 1918-21, but I think they may have been born in Ireland before moving to Scotland. Contact with NZ family was lost after WW2. A reunion is being planned for October in Ireland and a tree being done. We would love to include this lost branch. Many thanks. Diane
