    3. Good Evening Doug, Deed book means that if the land was sold or purchased it would have been entered into an official journal, probably kept in the County Court House. The Deed it self would have given the lot or location of the property, amount sold for and the names of those selling and those buying. It also serves another purpose, it will give an idea where your early ancestor was buried. Most were buried in a plot of ground near the old homestead. Buried with them would have been slaves (in a separate section) and close friends and neighbors. I am not aware of the practice in your areas but this applies to what is termed the Colonial and, later, United States.
