Hi folks, Anyone interested in learning more about emigration from Scotland to North America will find the following book a very good read. Although it concentrates on those who crossed the seas to Nova Scotia aboard the 'Hector,' it covers the various trials and tribulations many immigrant families endured finding passage, surviving (or not) the voyage, getting started in the New World, and so forth. It would certainly be available through libraries, if not in bookstores. Scotland farewell : the people of the Hector / Author MacKay, Donald, 1925- Publisher Toronto : McGraw-Hill Ryerson, c1980.
