I found out that Herds Creek is in Moore County North Carolina I had two branches from a collateral line settle there. All of there children were born there in Moore County. Samuel's were all born there, and Stephenson's last two Carraway, and Wyatt were the only ones born in South Carolina. Their brother Richard Wyatt Oates I think also settled there before going to Georgia.
